TRUTH: it's the new hate speech.
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act. - Orwell
Nothing ever happens besides some strong words in the end, this is probably one of largest fights to occur between the two since the Korean war though.
200 rounds of artillery is quite a bit is it not? You would think that the south would of fought back harder?
Escalation. The South doesn't want to turn it into a war, it is one of the most heavily armed borders in the world.Originally posted by l/l/rX

If South Korea ened up in a war with the North it would have some serious world wide issues.
The South fired back approximately 80 rounds.Originally posted by l/l/rX

Assume that the South has bigger boom boom and better accuracy on account of getting all their gear from the US, and this might have actually been a huge upset for NK

NK is backed by china
SK is backed by the rest of the world?
if i speak some truth then no matter what happens, NK is not in an advantageous position.

Warning shots, or maybe a strategic strike on military production facilities.
I wonder who shot first?
North Korea was Bushs' enemy. I'm not entirely sure about Obama.
Strangely enough - if you look at where North Korea is heavily invested economically (Macau, Luxembourg, Switzerland) These are all nations that are considered to *not* be in debt, which is a rare thing nowadays.
When in doubt, I tend to think that the aggressor is the one who is indebted... Which means the US occupied South probably shot first. There are a lot of rogue generals out there, on the North Korean side as well as a lot of US generals. They probably don't have much quibble about launching an ICBM or two every now and then.
If "communist" means to not be in debt because you never lend money... I'm not entirely sure its *that* bad of an economic model.

No. NK isn't backed by China. China wants peace like everyone else so it can grow uninterrupted.Originally posted by syritis

Nothing will come of this. NK is pushing the limit as regime changes.

I guess 2 of the 4 injured died... RIP
Oh and the president of S.Korea is aiming for action to be taken rather than putting sanctions on N. Korea.

I predict nothing will come of this. If sinking a South Korean ship (killing 49) did nothing, what's killing two people gonna do? Hopefully Kim Jong Il dies soon and his son is a bit more reasonable, but I doubt it.

The idea of most diplomats is that the whole point of the attack was to show that the new leader is going to be just as tough and to remove doubts of a regime change.Originally posted by Feruk

Yea, this seems very likely the case here. New kid on the block wants to show how tough he is.Originally posted by derpderp

Kim Jong Un could potentially do real damage, he is Swiss educated afterall.
The other son, was thought to be too "capitalist" and "greedy" as he was a notorious card/table gambler in Macau.
