I think the answer they gave the media was sufficient 'the media scrum (couldn't hear) will be in 30 min to answer your questions'

I think the media was being disrespectful for hounding him after he made it painfully clear that he wasn't going to answer any questions at that time.

There's saying "No comment at this time.", and then there's acting like a child who's angry over not being allowed to eat his cookie.

This guy showed a serious lack of maturity and professionalism is the face of the media, and they tried to work with him on it. His single minded determination to act like a spoiled child is what got him fired.

He hasn't been doing much to fix the problem in our health care system. That didn't get him in trouble. But eating a cookie when the media is asking you questions, that's a big no no, he should be stoned. What he did was definitely inappropriate, he should have been fired long time ago for other reason in my opinion.

Corporate strategy 101:
When the company needs to cut jobs, salary and overhead... hire an outside consultant (an axeman if you will) who is hired specifically to do the dirty work and make the unpopular decisions necessary to achieve the goals of management. This will anger the remaining company staff and therefore direct any negative perception away from management and to the axeman. This is text book corporate politics, I have seen this play out at my last company.... they brought a guy in from Britain, he ruled with an iron fist, we got shitty raises, he forced contractors to go to staff positions (very unpopular) then when he was finally turfed they brought in the nicest guy I have ever worked for.

From the day he was hired I suspected he was a planned scape goat... how convienent was it he is from Australia, or that his wage is extremely high. It reeked of a short term position from the start. It feels like they are playing Albertians for fools.

I completely agree. The whole "cookie" thing has been nothing but manufactured outrage from the start. Oh, no, he blew off reporters by claiming he was eating a cookie, how utterly offensive! It was just an excuse to get rid of the axe man as they intended from the beginning, and the $700,000 is proof of that.
