Default Plasma tv for ps3 gameing

I am just wondering i am looking at either buying a 40" 0r just a bit bigger tv. I am only going to be playing my ps3 on this so no watching tv, this tv will be only used for gameing, i am just wondering is a plasma tv good if you just want to game on it and will it look just as good as a LCD tv.

    Thank you:

    Mark

Gaming. Get a 1080P, and it will look fine.

I think you'd want at least 120hz as well.

ANyone know how the LED LCD sets are for gaming?

As for screen size, it depends on your distance from the screen. Anything less than 50 these days is too small for my needs, you might live in a smaller place though.

Most shops give you a certain amount of time to make sure you like the purchase. Just buy a TV, if it sucks return it for a full refund.

You need 1080p these days, some notice the blur so I would avoid anything lower than 120hz, I am one of those who notice and it drives me nuts.

You can take your PS3 to the electronics shop and test drive a TV, I would do this as well.

i wouldn't buy plasma, i've almost burned the images in from gaming a few times, now I'm paranoid to play anything on it for long periods of time

Goddamnit you guys, if you just kinda know about TVs, or are guessing, don't post.

Plasma TVs don't have 120hz. That's something created for LCD TVs only - plasmas never had the ghosting problems. And burn-in was a problem in 2005. It isn't anymore.

mm yes it is since i can have retention after only an hour playing, i don't want to push it further to test and see if it actually burns in

plasmas are more prone to burning in than lcd's are

It used to be a problem, not so much anymore except maybe when the set is new. How old is your plasma?

    I've got a Panasonic 50" plasma.

It doesn't burn in... in Street Fighter, you have the life bars on screen at all times. I left it on in training mode for three and a half straight hours with the brightness at about 65% and I only had the faintest outline of the lifebars left, and they went away in less than a minute as soon as I put in a movie.

One time, I left my laptop hooked up to and the screen saver didn't kick on... six hours it was on like that, and since my desktop isn't bright enough, there was barely anything left over afterwards.. I used the TV's built in wiper utility to fix it in less than five minutes.

burn in is NOT a problem. period.

I run a 42 inch plasma, it works perfect with no
blur or image burn. Newer plasmas don't have to worry about it

I have a 50" samsung. I don't really like it very much for gaming be use the blacks are too black. Even with the brightness up, I get shot up in COD at times when people are camping in the shadows.

I'm gonna be moving onto a LED pretty soon

I have a Panasonic 50" plasma for a few years now. Wii and PS3 gaming and sometimes leave at the same DVD menu for a few hours. NO burn-in.

As long as you get a good brand/model plasma, burn-in should not happen all.

I don't know about COD, but It is probably ingame gamma setting or TV contrast setting?

LED > Plasma. I don't know why people still buy plasmas.

Deeper blacks, higher refresh rate, long life.

I just bought a plasma today.

    1080p 42 inch plasma 600hz, 2 000 000:1 contrast for under $700.

Don't think you can find an LCD at ~40 inches with 1080p and 120hz refresh anywhere near that price, and if you can the blacks are probably shit too.
