I got let go from an assembly plant polishing finished fiberglass pieces on my 20th birthday because I started removing my cheap plastic safety glasses while polishing as I was having a hard time seeing what I was doing.
None of the other workers wore their glasses and I was being cocky because it was my birthday, but after warnings from a couple supervisors I was hauled out by the boss man with not a word.
Lesson learned: you can only break rules when you're in a union.
I'm actually glad I stuck with my principals on that one and don't regret breaking the arbitrary rules set in place.
"Anarchism is not a romantic fable but the hardheaded realization, based on five thousand years of experience, that we cannot entrust the management of our lives to kings, priests, politicians, generals, and county commissioners."
