I got let go from an assembly plant polishing finished fiberglass pieces on my 20th birthday because I started removing my cheap plastic safety glasses while polishing as I was having a hard time seeing what I was doing.

None of the other workers wore their glasses and I was being cocky because it was my birthday, but after warnings from a couple supervisors I was hauled out by the boss man with not a word.

Lesson learned: you can only break rules when you're in a union.

I'm actually glad I stuck with my principals on that one and don't regret breaking the arbitrary rules set in place.

He told me that this was not acceptable and told me to go home...
Good Riddance on your behalf. BP's sucks, their food is ALWAYS terrible.
I refuse to eat there, screw paying $15-$25 for plate of bland soggy crap.

I was let go once because I was paid to much.

Didn't make much sense at the time considering they paid me 6 weeks of severance pay until I found out I had hit the yearly bonus (20% cash bonus of my base) to be paid out the next month....... It then made all the sense in the world. I worked there 6 years 6 days a week 60 hours a week.

    Weak.

Only time I've ever been fired was from Deerfoot Wal-mart back when I was like 17 or 18.

Worked there for 2 and a half years doing boatloads of shit I should of been fired for, Lighting shopping carts on fire and pushing them around the parking lot (while the store was open), signing in at the beginning of my shift then leaving the store for 8 hours, cussing at customers, showing up drunk for shift, going drinking during work (them opening the liquor store in the mall was fucking great), basically you name it I did it, Except take money from the till's, I've always thought of thieves as little bitches...

Anyway's I got a much better paying Job with Telus way back when they were on strike so I handed in my 2 weeks notice and on my second last day they hauled me into the office for something I honestly can't remember and said they were letting me go, so I laughed at the 2 managers, reminded them I already quit and told them its great I don't have to show up for my last shift. I even had "Security" escort me out

Oh ski cellar. They have some interesting management, it seems like most of the staff there ski <10 days a year, not really what I'd expect from a ski shop. Don't feel bad about getting fired there. (Don't get me wrong too though, some of the staff are great, you probably were too, maybe you were out riding too much on days off? :P )

There HAS to be legal recourse for this. Honestly, one month away after 6 friggin years? That pisses me off just thinking about it, I respect you for being able to not completely lose it on them.

Actually to be honest, for that level of restaurant, i think BP's is the best of their class.

    - But I got fired once for 'losing interest in my job'. In short, my manager was a prik, and wanted me out ever since he took the position of being my manager.
    - Also, working at a cement plant, the plant manager had it out for me from day 1. it was union, so being 3 minutes late was a HUGE deal. Got fired over being 3'ish minutes late too many times.

Grade 11. Trampoline instructor in Okotoks. I let too many kids land on their heads. Fired after a well.

Also, fired from Superstore (deli), for apparently not working fast enough. My boss was a Korean Nazi. Best thing that ever happened to me.

Never been fired or even come close but I worked at RONA for 3 years in various departments, and I can't believe you got fired for leaning on a counter. We did WAY worse things at RONA and it wasn't a problem. When it was super quiet we were allowed to read, lean on the counter, etc. One day I even made a throne out of windshield washer fluid boxes and sat there when it was quiet. I would bet anything there was a reason other than your counter leaning, even if you weren't aware of it.

I got fired from an internship at a waterblasting company in Houston for working too much OT.

The shop was always busy. Always something to do, and they needed all the help they could get (the guys in the shop always asked me to do the OT), so I stayed for 12+ hours a day, worked Saturdays, etc.

Anyways, long story short. I racked up something like 60 hours of OT in a month. The head engineer called me over and asked when I was planning on leaving to go back to school. I said, end of August, and he replied with "Why don't you make that Friday." haha ganked!

Oh well made some pretty good money (which I worked my ass off for). Spent the rest of the summer doing odd jobs for my rich friends' parents.
    Texas Nick
