Default What have you been fired for?

Just wondering what kind of reasons you guys have been fired or 'let go' for in the past. How long you worked there for, what you did wrong, where you worked type of deal.

This weekend, Saturday morning, I was "let go" from Totem because this past Thursday night I was leaning on the counter of my cash till. To them it's unprofessional and apparently there were customer complaints when it was slow as hell for one, and two, I said hi / good night to every person that walked in and out. The reason I was leaning on the counter? I had a migraine and wanted to pass out, yet they didn't even talk to me beforehand or anything about it.

I've heard just because I was there for under 3 months they can do that for any reason they see fit.

on a side note, anyone hiring?

    Your turn.....

Never been fired. But i can say that yes, because it was before your 90 days, they can fire you for anything they want, without severance or any recourse. Im assuming that you have shown bad attitudes before? Ive never known an employer to fire somebody just for one single thing...not without warning anyways. Hey, maybe you did have a good attitude, and a jerky higher up just didnt like you...it happens....lots of jobs out there. Tell him you're going to work at home depot and let them know all of totem's dirty secrets

No actually, I wanted to make a good impression and a lasting one so I did what I could to have a good attitude. Always showed up for my shift, etc. I got written up for drifting in the parking lot when the store was closed, but aside from that they had no other reason to do so.

The part that annoyed me the most was that they would watch your every move, yet out of all the girls there, I didn't make a single mistake once on till since I started and my money always balanced out (which was a big thing for them).

Pics of yourself. Maybe when you were leaning on the counter, your tits were all hanging out and customers complained?

They probably needed a neck on the chopping block due to shortage of work, and you stuck out with your parking lot stunts. Just a thought. Unfortunate tho, im all for drifting around in empty parking lots, it trains you for skid situations and teaches you a whole new level of control for your driving skills.

I find the cashier girls at Totem Midnapore too clicky. If you were at that branch, maybe they were talking shit behind your back to get you fired?

Maybe, but at the same time the only reason they gave me for 'letting me go' was because me leaning on the counter. But yeah, I agree.. and I was doing it where there were no cars or people who could have been injured / damaged. And they just hired a new girl? Since I started about a month 1/2 or 2 months ago, they fired two girls aside from me.

Yup, it was that one. I did find some of them to be very stuck up though. I can't stand being around people like that.

Well that's also a good idea; it's a fantastic way to get some payback.

Drifting rental cars around back roads an older coworker saw me and complained. Also snapping at a pharmacist where i worked for slacking off and making me do everything.

Only time I got fired was for supposedly viewing porn on my computer. The fact is, I never once went to a porn site and the closest thing I could think of is the pop-ups and ads when I went to download programs I needed (and they were not supplying me).

When I walked into the owner's office, he had a thick file with a lot of "evidence", but would not let me see it. To this day, I really don't know if they truly thought I was looking at porn or if they just needed to get rid of me easily because it was slow. I'm going to guess the latter.

Out of my seemingly countless jobs as a kid, one of them was a "Beer Pourer" for the Stampede. I was working at the Grandstand, when a buddy came in for a cold one.
So I took the money out of my tip bucket to pay for his beer that I gave him. (Nothing wrong with that, right? it was MY tips) but apparently thats not allowed, so I lasted a whole day there.
Pretty much the only time I was ever fired.

I got fired because my ''dedication'' to Ski Cellar was questionable. Never missed, and was always on time for my shifts

When I was 17 I worked at Boston Pizza as a line cook. During my first week I screwed up a few orders, everytime I did so I was told by the other guys that I could eat the "wrong" pizza I made if I wanted to instead of throwing it in the garbage. During my second week I was much better and I only made a mistake once...so I took that pizza upstairs to eat on my break. My manager came over and asked me what I was eating and if I had paid for it. I said "no...I made a mistake on that one so I'm just eating it instead of dumping it". He told me that this was not acceptable and told me to go home...
