    Default Nostalgic Calgary Memories?

What are some fond memories you have of your childhood specific to Calgary?

This just came to my head...

"Power 107 plays todays best music now show me my money!"

Also I can clearly remember when the only thing in Westhills was a Safeway. There was a large hill on the other side and it seemed like they were prepping construction forever.

I grew up in the brown apartment buildings across from westhills so most of my really early Calgary memories are from there.

I remember the old glass arches and the Easy Street. I still have like 20 mugs from that place haha.

Southcentre used to have a theater as well.

When Midnapore mall had a few stores
When the office building I now work in was the cheap theatres on Southland
When the cheap theaters were expensive before the coliseum was even built
    Willy's

that's it off the top of my head.

Couldn't find any on Google but I remember when they had a model of the "new" chinook on display. Seems like ages ago.

If I remember correctly it had black framed, glass arches, no tower, no theater. The food court used to be an Easy Street (kids play thing).... thats all I got.

When people in this city used to have tolerance for each-other.

Everyone acts like this is New York now.

Three Cheers, Coconut Joes, Electric Avenue, Fox'n Firkin, some place beside Fox n Firkin, The Keg, and some others which have evaporated from my mind due to the damaged brain cells from this reigon of the city.

First club on 10th and 4th? (May have been called 10-4s)

Kipling Square had a club upstairs and in the basment was "Boys Town Metro". As a joke a friend dragged me in there once, then I figured out...hey, no chics!

The Cove(really dating myself here) and lots more but I forget all the names. Can anyone else bring up some other names?

Lots and lots of good times were had in those few blocks until the city put the brakes on electric ave.

I remember when the big helicopters lifted the flame cauldron onto the Calgary tower. My family watched it from scotchmans hill.

I also remember when 162nd ave went one block west of Macleod and there was nothing there. There used to be horses along Macleod and there was a grain elevator close to where the humptys is now.

The '88 olympics, I was just 6, but I remember them quite well. Also when 22x was FAR south of everybody, now it's a part of Calgary, I miss the very friendly calgarians, and the rush hour that really wasn't. Wow this city has changed

I'd love to see pics of the original chinook as well. I have a lot of early memories of shopping there. Remember kresges, met mart (with a cafeteria inside), marks and spencer, and woodwards???
