"I Love Love" Art Project

Hey guys! I need your help!

I am taking a course at the University of Calgary. Its a class on Love and how it is expressed in Fine Arts. My Prof gave me the option to either write a 2000 word paper or create a project, so obviously I went with option #2!

Here is where you come in! I need people to create a sign that says "I Love ______" Fill in the blank, and then take a photo of yourself holding the sign up. This could be anything; I love cars, I love women, I love the first shit of the morning ect ect. Have fun with it! I'll be submitting the photos to my prof as part of my project.

I'm curious as to if you plan on continuing this idea after the project/assignment is over, I think it could keep going and has a real potential! For what, I don't know but it would be interesting to see where it goes

I have received quite a few photos from people that I have on facebook (about 15 in less than 24 hours) and around 50 people have said that they want to take part but haven't had time to e-mail their pictures yet. If I continue to get lots of pictures I will totally push the deadline back and try to turn this into a real project; I am not exactly sure what I'll do though. Perhaps turn all of the photos into a book or an art gallery sort of display. We have the Taking Flight Festival at the UofC and there are also other festivals for emerging artists that love this sort of community based work.

Sorry guys for taking awhile to respond, this thing has taken off like wild fire! Due to the early success of the project, my friend Joanna and I have turned this project into an event for charity!

Since Friday at Midnight, nearly 3000 people have been invited to our facebook event. 191 are "attending" and say they will send me a picture, 2788 are still awaiting reply. 46 people have actually sent me their pictures so far.

If by the end of December we get 500 people to participate, Joanna and I will each donate $250 to the Brenda Strafford Centre - A shelter for women and children who have escaped from domestic abuse.

As far as the getting a copy of the final product, I am not exactly sure what you mean by that. My assignment portion is due on Thursday which will have an Essay that I have wrote and some of the pictures, but I haven't figured out yet what I will do at the end of December. There are a few Festivals in town that showcase emerging artists work so I may try to enter this into some of those!

I actually just did something like this for my art class, a collage with a bunch of people holding a word, and I put it together for an introduction.

I thought of just going online and finding pictures of people holding signs, I thought it'd probably be easier that way anyways since I could get it done super quick. But I figured...with the time it's going to take to cite every single picture that I took from the internet and to sift through all the ones that have a huge watermark, I might as well take my own pictures.

Good luck with the project OP! If I have time I'd definitely participate.
