Much more aggressive than the old one. Only downside is their available engine options, the 3.5 v6 is an ok engine but nothing excilerating. I'm assuming the amg version will be the slk63, that should be awesome.

    Nice car, awesome advertisement.

I wonder how exciting it will be in real life.

If there is a SLK63 it'll be with the new 5.5L V8 TT. And probably detuned. They're getting rid of the 6.2L N/A V8 unfortunately.

That promo vid is funny. If I'm trippin' out and hearing voices, the last thing I'm gonna do is go for a drive haha.

    I don't see what's unfortunate about this.

The regular version of the motor will deliver 544 horsepower and 586 pound-feet of torque. A more powerful variant will increase those figures to 571 hp and 660 lb-ft.
You can't even dream of making those numbers on your cars :P Detuned just means you pay a couple grand to get those higher numbers (and you -will- get them at this altitude thanks to FI), which is fucking insane for a car of that size.

I need to convince my father-in-law to pick up one of these and sell his SLK55 to me on the cheap.

I spent over a year learning how to drive the damn thing properly and I have to unlearn everything again with this motor! That and the turbo engine is a lot quieter. I'm gonna miss the noises when I downshift.

The NA's have been tuned to run over 600hp, but of course for a lot more $$$ and not at this elevation, but you're right, it's definately better for Calgary.

I will do my best to imitate those noises in whatever car you decide to buy and haul my broke ass around in.

There are a couple of guys running high 10s in the C63. They are making way more than 544 hp.

    6.2L V8 NA M156 vs 5.5L V8 TT M157.

Let's get back to the "we'll take it" part of the story. There are very few production cars on sale these days that produce the following behavior: I left the door open every time I turned the key. Why would I do that? Because the vicious V-8 growls when you fire it up. If you'll permit me to dip my toe into the river of onomatopoeia for a moment, "RARRRR!!" Just a snarling, starving, Hound of the Baskervilles-style bark of a growl. Put another way, I wish all cars made this noise. It's quite... special. And no offense to the new twin-turbo, but there's no growling and no reason to leave the door open when you switch it on.
Sums it up nicely. On the bright side, the TT is 25% more fuel efficient, so my gas attendant's gonna miss me!
