Buy something from the dollar store for $1, but put a price label of $20.

Or buy 20 twenty, $1 items.

Does it have to be Chinese theme? Or are you talking about exchanging them with Chinese people?

I'm guessing it's neither. People call it the chinese gift exchange because chinese ppl are cheap!

I've been invited to those, but they would just call it "gift exchange" to my face, but in the emails it would say chinese gift exchange. Pretty funny stuff.

Little do they know I'm way more racist than those honkeys!

I've honestly never been to one. at least not one that they told me was "Chinese gift exchange"

Here's another idea OP, what if you wait for someone to give you your gift first... then you excuse yourself to the bathroom, put a different wrapping on, and give it to your intended person?

I've done it a few times. What about something like a bottle of wine, or a gift card somewhere, like Chapters or something. Alcohol is always a favourite. No one ever wants to give up their alcohol.

A *true* Chinese gift exchange would involve re-gifting something that you received last year, most likely from a real Chinese person, who likely re-gifted that gift from the year prior. Chinese parents do this all the time!
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!

Chinese Road Block? if that involves ending up walking behind a group of asian people going slow and blocking you from going around, we (friends and I) usually call that Grez. (Reverse Zerg)

Costco has stylish Tazo tea pot that comes with a variety of Tazo teas for $11.

I used it for a $20 chinese gift exchange with Vietnamese people.
I tossed in a couple scratch cards. It was really popular, but nobody got chopped

Take the $20 (when you spend $100) "gift card" off of a Mark's Work Wearhouse flyer.
