Good Idea I throw in a couple of bucks
Bad Idea This shite already costs me 40 bucks a month for my internet
Why not leave stuff like this up to the admins of the site.
Machining, Fabricating, Welding etc.
I think it would be hard to ask for donations when you have paid sponsors on the site
From what Rage has said in the past it sounds like he'll foot the bill for hosting the site because beyond has made some money off of things before and instead of putting it towards site maintenance it seems to go to events etc.
Obviously this is up to rage though

i dont mind puttin in a few bucks..
i would too... and if a newbie doesnt want to be a newbie anymore theyd have to cough it up!!!
We have discussed this option to help provide revenue to the site but at the end of the day we decided against it because it would not be a very good revenue stream, plus it would begin to segregate the user base. We have a lot of very generous sponsors who are helping to support beyond in its many endeavors. If you want to help beyond out, shop at one of our sponsors and thank them for supporting beyond and tell them that is why you are supporting them.
I know this topic comes up pretty frequently, but I try to address it each and every time. If you don't have any plans to purchase anything at any of our sponsors there are also other ways to support the site:
- Beyond Lanyards at $5 a piece
- Beyond T-shirts $15 each
- Beyond Hoodies (limited quantity) $35 each
If you are a representative from a tuner shop, or any other business that may benefit from additional exposure to a large group of automotive forum members, you can support us by donating automotive hardware to be used as prize giveaways, or you can purchase an advertising banner to help support the site and in return get exposure on one of Canada's most active automotive forums.
*End selling mode*

hehe, what kenny said .
Basically, I pay for the server hardware, the company I work for pay for the bandwidth now (you'll see their link in some pages hehe), and the sponsors pay for our entry fees at various shows, free food at our yearly BBQ's, subsidize track days, etc. None of the admins/moderators profit from the site at all.
This site has been free from day 1 and will remain free to our best abilities.
