iPad Thread- Beyond Edition

Let's be honest, the iPad is pretty damn popular, and I've got a feeling a lot of people are going to be either giving or receiving one tomorrow. It's a pretty sweet device that's capable of a lot of things, but some of them might be unknown to us! Let's have a place to keep the iPad topics in one place: apps, tips, iOS updates, accessories, etc.

Moving on,
I'm setting up an iPad my sister and I are giving to our parents tomorrow, and I want to know if there's any good apps that a couple of ~50 years olds would enjoy. I'm also curious about sync limitations, and what I can do on my computer that won't be erased by iTunes when they plug it in to their computer for the first time.

Angry Birds HD, got that as a stocking stuffer, couldn't put it down.

My parents are both 50+ and they both have iPads. Both of them are hooked on angry birds (who would have guessed...lol), shazam, cut the rope, weather eye instead of the weather one that comes on it.

The other thing I did was sync them to my itunes instead of their own and gave them my password to itunes for any apps they see. Neither of them are computer savvy, so this way I can make sure that their ipads are always up to date.

Who needs a camera connect kit? I received it as a gift, but I don't even own an iPad, nor that I want to. I think they thought I could use it for my iTouch.

Is there a way to get the App Store to stay open when I download an app? I like to get them in bunches, lol.

BTW, Geometry Wars is the tiiiiiiiits!

And The Economist app is amazing. Well worth the price of the digital subscription if you're interested in the magazine. (A student subscription is cheaper than digital-only, and you get the print version too!)

You can download the latest issue instantly, as well as the audio version. You can skip through articles like songs, even from the lock screen. It's great.

BTW for NYT use the nytimes.com/chrome webapp for Chrome OS, it's HTML5 so you can get all the sections, unlike the app!

I'm bringin this back with a few questions.

Does anyone know how to NOT show the letters as you type passwords? The iPad keyboard is big enough where I am comfortable I've got the right letters, and the screen is big enough to easily read my passwords if you sit next to me.

Anyone think the iPad 2 is gonna be worth the upgrade over the iPad? I don't think I need Facetime all that bad, but the A5 should be pretty sweet...

I don't think the iPad 1.5 is worth the upgrade.. If you have the first one wait for the 3rd version that is if they put retina display in it.

As for key hiding there are some options but anything that i can think of would require a jailbreak (not that i care) but some people are against it.
