    Smile 2010 In Review...

So 2010 is almost over... And while parts of it sucked balls, I have to admit it was a pretty decent year overall. I found some happiness in an unexpected place, during a very dark time, so I'm going to say good-bye to '10 with no regrets, and welcome '11 with open arms.

Now my question is: what are your personal highlights/low points of the past year?

    Mine:
Low point-deciding to end my marriage
High light-deciding to end my marriage (it's a double-edged sword...)

Roller coaster this year. None are really highs and lows. Good things brought lots of stress.

    - bought house
    - got engaged
    - lost/screwed up some good friendships
    - made some career mistakes
    - went back to school part time
    - did some travelling
    - got promoted.

Here's to a CALM 2011. The last 4 years have been nuts for change so hopefully I can get a predictible year.

Aww I wish there was a hug smiley. Sorry to hear that.

Low point(s): I didn't end up going to India as planned due to a lot of violence in the region I was supposed to visit. (Targeting whites)
-You might lol, but right before my last exam in April, an hour before I was going to leave to write it, I got hit with with gnar. I could NOT get off of the can in time and was an hour late for the exam.

    High Point(s):
-A couple of A's in school.
-Made a ton of really good friends
    -Left a few "friends" behind
-Saw the "not pregnant" bar on her pee test.

    high points..
    got engaged,
    bought a house,
    went back to college,
    got a sweet puppy

    low points..
    lost some family members,
having a hard time dealing with new bills etc.

I'd really like 2011 to be chill and just take care of itself for me.. Probably not going to happen..

I'd say 2010 was probably one of my shittiest year so far.
Hopefully things get better in 2011

On the business side for me 2010 was a disaster, been a very slow year but there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel, the last few months have picked up considerably. Onward to a busy 2011 please!

We had a healthy baby girl end of April makes up for all the bad this year!

The big change was moving back to BC after living in Calgary for 10 years, though it has been somewhat tough emotionally (esp. for my wife) since we left a lot of family & friends behind and we are still trying to settle into the new community.

That said, I am into a new job that I really enjoy and I feel like I have some purpose & usefulness again, so that is a major plus.

I sold my house in Calgary for a decent price, and looking at how the market has been since, this was a wise move.

2010 had it's ups & downs... wasn't the worst year on the books, nor the best.

I'm hoping 2011 will be a good one!

2010 was a meh year. Not as horrific as 2007 but nowhere as good as 2008.

    High points
at an amazing stage in my son's life, every day he makes me more proud to be his mom
Started running and ran my first 5k race and came in first (it was a tiny race though and I'm currently taking a winter break from running like a big sissy but I'm missing it immensely so I think I'll try to head out again on Chinook days)

    Low points
    another 3 miscarriages.
Dealing with the CRFP. No one has the ability to piss me off more than that fucking useless clinic and it's fucking useless doctors do.
Friends dealing with some really tough stuff has put a damper on my year as well, I hate it when I can't help the people I'm close to.

    Bring on 2011.

2010 was a great year for me.

    High points:
    - Traveled to Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, New Zealanad, Malta, and South Africa.
    - Climbed Kilimanjaro
    - 16k foot sky dive in Abel Tasman
    - Hiked the West Coast Trail & Juan De Fuca Trail
    - World's highest bungee jump
    - Saw Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda
    - Saw Lions close-up in Ngorongoro
    - Dove with great white sharks
    - Bought a Cambodian guy a motorbike to help him make more money for his family
    - Wicked summer road trip with buddies through interior BC
    - Started a Masters program, partied like a rock star
    - Made some wicked friends while traveling

    Low points:
    - Pissed away too much money drinking
    - Cambodian buddy was shot and killed and his family had to sell the moto to pay for the funeral / police to do their job
    - Bored as f*ck at work
    - Sold my stock positions too early and missed out on most of this rally.

2011 is going to be another sweet year for me, I can feel it. Focus is going to be on health, investing, finishing my MSc and doing more cool shit.

Some real big highs and a few big lows as well.

Looking at the entire year I don't know if I can say it was good, but I had some awesome days and I tend to remember the good and not the bad.

So I guess it's another good year in the books.

2010's the best year I've ever had. The lows were pretty insignificant.

    Highs:
    - Spent 8 months travelling the South Pacific & SE Asia on my own
    - Finished uni
    - Some crazy nights out
    - Started my career

    Lows:
    - Certain nights with my nocturnal housemates in Australia
    - Coming back to Calgary
    - Started my career

    Highs:
-Bought a house and ditched my shit land lord
    - Daughter told me "love you daddy" for the first time, hell, even "daddy" for the first time.
    - Promotion at work
    - Beyond came to my rescue after the accident

    The lows:
    Marriage issues
    Truck accident
    Family members passing
Telling one of my best friends that I can't associate with him any longer.

2010 was a balanced year for me, I am hoping for a MUCH better 2011.

    Highs-
-Graduated with the highest marks in my class (well, somewhere top 5 out of 90 people anyways)
-have been working full time non-stop since I graduated
    -got my "dream" job

    Lows-
-dream job has turned out to not be what I thought it would
-barely paying off school debt payments
-no roomate = $500 less per month which is brutal when you net ~$2500/month
-have to give up racing internationally for a year
-had a big dislike for 99% of the people in school, so made very few friends during two years of college (how can people suck that much?!)

So currently, life sucks. The positives are I can pay down debt, but only at the regular loan payments (I wanted to be putting away more like $1k per month into debt so I'd have it all paid off by the end of 2011). Time to start job hunting, and since I've resigned myself to minimum racing next year, I'm going after the big bucks!

    Got a van and truck.
    Getting out more to socialize.

    Lows:

Van got hail damaged a month after we got it.
Leaving good friends behind at the old job.
Haven't really lost much weight since running.

    Lows:
-Decided to try the dating life once again for the first time in 5 years. That was 7 months of hell and time I wont get back, definitely hit rock bottom after that, didnt take long to get back on my feet, but man was that a shitty feeling for sure.

    Highs:
    -Graduated
-Started career job and love everything about it
    -Bought a condo
-Met tons of new friends this year, people who I actually see/ talk to on a regular basis.

    2011:
-Have some big traveling plans that im super stoked for! (T.O., MTL, NYC, Asia)
    -Starting my tattoo mid january!

Hope everyone has a great 2011.
