    Default PS3 Buying advice needed

    Hey People,

Looking into a PS3 for shits and giggles.

I do not need a new one as it is gonna be for a few games and such.

Anything I should look out for in terms of previous generations,

Also, I usually go all out when buying soemthing like this, but I'm starting to learn I do not need 320 gbof storage when I just playa few games and what not.

Will the PS3's with lets say 80 gb hard drive, perform any different then the 320gb or whatever?

If I do eventually want more hard drive, is it not like the Xbox where its removable?

    Thanks,

    Barlow

The new slims are the way to go. They run a lot cooler.

The HD size on the slims doesn't make a difference for function.

The older fat PS3 has laser problems but the PS3 is compatible with just about any 2.5-inch SATA notebook harddisk i put a 500gig seagate in mine. There isn't really any big differeance between the slim and the older ones though besides look.

I just spent the past couple weeks debating used vs. new PS3s and shopping for deals. If it helps, I got a PS3 at a little bit of a sale price yesterday at Superstore for $288 for the bundle with 1 controller and Motorstorm:Pacific Rift and Ratchet and Clank Future. Later on, I saw Costco has the PS3 core (no games, 1 controller)on for $247 IIRC, where it was $299ish (same as the reg. priced bundles) before the holidays.

Also, both Wal-mart and Superstore had value packs with a wireless controller and 1 or 2 games for $59, but I think that's just the regular price. I got Little Big Planet for the GF, but I think they had a God of War pack as well.

I looked at used ones and was given a free 80GB YLOD PS3 to see if I could fix it, but didn't want to mess around with heating problems, YLODs, and apparently having to regularly reflow it to keep it running. I fix things for a living and it's the last thing I want to deal with when I get home and am looking forward to unwinding with some GT5.

^How did you get a small discount at superstore? I'm looking into getting a new one as well.
And do you need a membership to buy a PS3 from Costco?

I meant it was on sale, but just a small one as I only saved $11. The sign called it a "Boxing Day Bundle", but strangely enough it wasn't on sale Boxing Day, the sign only appeared the day after. You do need a membership to buy a PS3 from Costco, but my membership has saved me more than it's cost in the last month alone.
