Default Trustfund set up for Bearspaw family

A trust fund has been established for the family who lost their home and everything in it to a fire Wednesday morning.

The blaze broke out at the two-storey, 3,000 square-foot Bearspaw home west of Calgary.

When crews arrived on scene, the entire house was fully involved and could not be saved.

The large acreage home is now a small, smouldering pile of rubble.

A family of four lived in the home, but they were on vacation in Vancouver when the fire broke out. They got the devastating news from a neighbor.

"I've never seen anything like it. I hope never to again," said neighbour Colleen Janssen Hood, who called the family.

Janssen said the blaze is a vivid reminder that acreage life is different than city living. There are no fire hydrants nearby.

Some wonder if a ready water supply would have made the difference in saving the home.

But the Rockyview County Fire Department says it would not have made a difference as the house was already fully involved when they arrived. They added insurance will cover the losses.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze and are waiting for the homeowners to return and sign a consent form before investigators can start sifting through the debris.

"We are still waiting to speak to the homeowners. Once they are here, we will have a discussion with them about the home and the contents and the circumstances that led up to the fire," said Garth Rabel with Rockyview County Fire Services.

They do not believe the fire is suspicious.

Now the community is rallying behind the family to help them rebuild and remain in the community.

"Everything is gone, so they will need literally everything from toothbrushes to towels and even school supplies," Janssen said.

Anyone wishing to make cash donations to help the family can do so at any Alberta Treasury Branch under the family name, Sea.
I feel bad that they lost everything, but really, A trust fund? For a family that live(d) in a 3000sq.ft house in Bearspaw? Pretty sure they'll have more than adequate insurance to cover this, and their living expenses while it's being rebuilt. Hell, I have enough insurance to cover that on my $400g home.

Yeah interesting, I would assume that they would have home insurance which would cover these things.

I can see if it’s a local community thing to help out a neighbor but to ask strangers around Alberta to pony up cash for rich people who will not end up losing anything monetarily due to insurance is down right ridiculous

I should set up a trust fund so I can be rich enough to set up another trust fund that people will hate on for me being rich from the first trust fund.

My parents $600 000 yacht burnt to the ground 3 weeks ago. For me to setup a trust fund for our familieis loss is an insult to others much much less fortunate. There is nothing wrong with people getting together to help out but a trustfund is just poor taste.

    no shame.

the insurance company will cut a check fast for immediate expenses. persons may use credit cards too.

it would be one thing to ask for items for immediate living because when you do not have toilet paper even then it is hard to live but its assembling the items that is the problem and not not having money to do so.

Let's not forget the investigation is still ongoing as to what started the fire; maybe it's an insurance scam, and we're all sending money!!!

You've really gotta be an idiot to send your money to them.

I've lost my water bottle and I'm thirsty.

How else are their neighbors suppose to show sympathy? Sure they all already have money but what the hell, its still a good way to show you feel sorry. I understand a plea to the public is pretty retarded though, but who knows maybe the newspaper requested it and published it.

And before you say there is other people need to help, wealthy communities donate more then anyone else and not just in a more money then others form, but a higher % of income in total.
