Default Best way to sync e-mail, calendars on a number of devices, mobile.me, g-mail account?

So I have the following devices.

ipad, blackberry, mac computer, windows PC

a few different e-mail addresses and currently just a calendar on outlook on the Vista PC.

I'd like a way to get all of my e-mail on each device (IMAP, so that a delete on one device, shows up on all other devices) fully synced. As well would want to set-up a calendar that is editable and accessible by all devices.

I have thought about setting up a g-mail account and forwarding all of my e-mail accounts to it, then accessing the g-mail from each of my devices, thus having a IMAP based e-mail set-up. For the calendar, I'd use a google calendar and have all my devices use it for the calendar function.

    OR

Noticed the mobile.me that apple sells, but to me it seems like the same as what I've mentioned above.

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks
    B

So there's no push to a BB for e-mail/calendar (with google mail/calendar) like on the iphone?

Consolidate everything into one gmail account as you mentioned.

Gmail can push/sync with iOS and blackberry....contacts and calenders too.

Yep, Gmail. I use Google Calendar Sync to get my Exchange Outlook stuff into my GCal and all the mobile devices pull from GCal. Contacts sync through the phones to the Exchange account as well.

Gmail is the best free sync app out there. I love it!

    I concur with Gmail.

It works for all devices, if i switch phones mid trip because of a problem i get all my contacts, notes and calendar entries back in 2 minutes.

Alright, so the vote is unanimous. I've started setting things up, now the issue is this.

picture this set-up, with these e-mails.

    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]

I've set [email protected] & [email protected] to forward to the GMAIL account.
Good, so now I've got IMAP capablilties with those e-mails.

Now I added [email protected] to the iPad.
I now get the e-mails that are being forwarded from the shaw and bigcompany.com e-mail addresses.

When I go to reply to any of these e-mails, the responding "FROM:" address is using the GMAIL address.

This is unprofessional and won't work as I need business to stay business and personal to stay personal, if that makes sense.

Seems to be the only way around this is to add the shaw and somebigcompany accounts to the iPad as well, so that I can choose between which address. This kind of goes against the whole reasoning for using the gmail account in the first place. Is it possible to set-up the account info, to send on the behalf of somebigbusiness, without actually downloading the e-mail too?
(Note: I know that if I log-in to gmail.com I can set it to allow me to e-mail on the behalf of other e-mails, IF I can prove they are my e-mails. I've done this, but it has no affect on other devices, only web browser based gmail)

Are you sure the Gmail app can't just pick the from account? I can do it on android. When in compose message there is a dropdown on the from address. I've never used gmail on iOS so no idea, but have a look.

From what I can see, there is no "g-mail app".

    ipad uses Mail App,
    blackberry uses ?
Microsoft Outlook on PC (wondering same thing), can I remove the old inboxes, leave just g-mail account, but still set-up the "outgoing" e-mail accounts so I can choose?

Macbook uses Mail app as well.

Instead of forwarding your mail to gmail, have gmail "get" your mail from your other addresses. Go to settings then 'accounts and import', and you should be able to set it up from there.

Looked into this, seems great for those using www.gmail.com as their client.

The issue is with other devices. ipad, blackberry, mail on mac, outlook on PC.

I think I will try to add the smtp outgoing account on those devices, with only use of 1 inbox (gmail) and see if that helps.

I've already verified that I own the accounts in google settings, but that still does not affect anything on ipad, etc. Just to be clear.

Thanks for the help thus far everyone :0
