    Default ODB-II for the iPhone!

I honestly was wondering the other day if there was an odb-II app. Turns out theres an app for that. Seems to be a great product idea, about time too!

    From Griffin:

    Features

Wireless car computer monitor, compatible with most passenger vehicles built since 1996
Wireless On-Board Diagnostic II reader/logger interfaces with your mobile phone or smartphone via Bluetooth
Gathers OBD-II data including acceleration, top speed, fuel consumption, fault and pending codes
CleanDrive App (a free download) analyzes data and displays it instantaneously in an easy-to-read graphic format
Instantaneous trip and long-term data analysis equips drivers to drive more fuel-efficiently
    Compatible with:

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later
Automobiles built in 1996 and later which use an OBD-II port to interface with
    their on-board computers

Interesting that it uses Bluetooth... all previous ones worked on WiFi (At least Audi ones Ive looked at...PLX Brand) You can buy ODBII bluetooth dongles much cheaper on eBay as well.....

Wonder how much it will be? Subscribed to their list for info.

The following one has been available for quite a while. I've got the free app which gives "dyno" info based on acceleration (haven't had a chance to try it). Just need to get the hardware for OBD-II functions.

    Innovative Motorsports

Bundled with their wideband, it gives a/f monitoring.

What would you need to these to work? Just a bluetooth bongle on your laptop?

There are two ways of doing this:

    1. Laptop via bluetooth... run whatever program/software for your car. (In my case, VAG-Com.. Audi/VW)

    2. As mentioned in the initial post, new apps that will connect via bluetooth to your favorite smart phone.
Im not certain of the extent of logging via phones, so that may be something you still need a laptop for...cant say till they come out.

bluetooth obdii readers (ELM327 protocol) do NOT work for the iphone, which is why i'm likely switching to android

WIFI adapters (likely what the griffin uses) will work on the iphone.

You only get standard OBDII information correct? Not full vag-com functionality?

If its on your latop via the bluetooth dongle you should have full use of whatever program you are using... the bluetooth dongle is instead of the hardwired ODBII cable.

No idea of the smartphone capabilities..

I thought VCDS only works with ross-tech dongles. If i could use one of these to replace my micro-can dongle i would be in heaven!

Edit: I would also like friggen ross-tech to get into the smartphone business. It looks like they will be having a web based too that is not OS dependant but i dont know how that will fair for logging. I would much rather have a android based app with a dock. Mmmmm smartphone boost gauge with A/F measurements and data logging. Delicious

AutoSpeed has an iPhone interface... but you have to use PLX for connectivity.
