I got some small plastic pieces that I would like to have rechromed, the chrome has rubbed off of them. Is this something I can get done somewhere? What's the easiest solution?

Jesus man, I know you like Transformers, but you need to get out more. No one should get this upset over a movie based on children's toys.

Booooooooosted Da9
WD21 pathfinder mud rig
maybe im a newb, but i thought you could only chrome metal?
Ya I was wondering that too. This stuff is pretty thin plastic, I'll give that place a call and ask. It's small plastic Transformers parts.

That place doesn't do it and never heard of anyone doing it, maybe it's just chrome paint. Okay so where can I buy chrome paint? I know about Home Depot, just wondering if it would be generic enough to find it there.

You CNC stuff? Would it be ridiculously expensive to provide a piece of plastic and get that made in metal? Any kind of metal for display.Originally posted by gretz

Calgary office sends it to the facility in Edmonton.
Turn around time is slow, but quality is excellent.

just go to canadian tire in the auto paint section and buy a can of chrome paint.
You also might want to test it on a small section first in case it eats away at the plastic.
"Anarchism is not a romantic fable but the hardheaded realization, based on five thousand years of experience, that we cannot entrust the management of our lives to kings, priests, politicians, generals, and county commissioners."
Certainly could lol... As for price, It all depends on the piece of plastic (shape, size, complexity etc...)Originally posted by Mar

Jeez.. I'd try pm hobby craft. Electroplating and all this seems like overkill
LOL im sure its already been covered, but in order to "plate" something, it needs to conduct electricity....plastic does not, therefore, mexican chrome it is (spray bombs)
Look up "Vacuum Metallize" that is what you need done.
Others are also wrong, there is a spray you can buy to coat the plastic to then make it conductive but this is not cost effective and all parts for plastic are done the other way usually. Conductive sprays are usually utilized in circuit boards and other electronics.

Ya, I built some crazy ass shit with Lego as a kid. I had a thing for AMC Eagle AWD's as a kid for some bizarre reason, so I spent a lot of time going to the library and reading up on how AWD works in that car. I even hitchhiked to the library once cuz my parents were too lazy to drive me haha. Ya, I'm a nerd.
