    Default civic help

alright so i have a 92 civic si, and i recently replaced the header from stock to a megan header, and put a used o2 sensor in. and every once in awhile the engine light comes on, after being running for a bit, so is this the o2 sensor??

and also today i was driving and my heat kept flucuating, and now in warmth but like how powerful it was coming through the vents.
i kept the button thing at 4 which is high and it kept changing, and now i have absolutely no heat coming through. is this my heater blower in the dash, or is this my heater controller?

please reply to inbox thank you

Its f'n chilly today, if you have heat on max, depending on your driving, the engine temps (heater core) temp will vary... As long as its not overheating, don't worry about it... If you keep losing heat, use cardboard...

Did your stock header have a cat in it? If so, then chances are the engine light is the o2 sensor (open loop)...

Take a paper clip bring it apart. Next time the light comes on , uneder the dash on the passenger side will be a clip its blue. Put on side of the paper clip in one prong and the other on the other side. Count the blinks. One long flash means ten one short means 1 so if you have 2 long then 1 short. That means 21.

Next time you drive check to see if your heat is colder at idle instead of driving. If it is then that's normal.

Heres how you check the engine light just incase you get confused by what italianstylez posted

    http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1901557

As for your heat does it only blow Coldish/warm air? Or just cold maybe the wire that controls the heater isn't working? Do you know how to turn it manually?

Just to be sure - don't overlook the obvious - check the coolant level and fan belt.

    Edit: >
also check the thermostat - those ones with the 'safety' are absolute crap. the safety is that they stick permanantly open - thus no heat. Kuzeh is Toyota's OEM manufacturer and likely Honda's as well. They really are superior to the Gates and other North American brands - they have a much larger modulation range and give better control.

    Second edit lol ...
A birdie told me NTC makes the Honda stat ... same thing though - far better than gates.

Here's what the heater control valve looks likes there's a little wire attached to it just have your dad move the control from inside the car from cold to hot and see if the heater control valve moves.. its located on the firewall. Also if it doesn't move just push it with your hand from side to side and see where it gives hot air..to check if your thermostat is good just run your car and wait for the fan to go off.. And there's no such thing as a fan belt on a civic..

If it doesn't blow anything then I'm sure your blower motor is died..

OOps I totally misread this sentence.
No air usually means -> heater control or resistor, blower motor failure, or a bad blower motor ground.

the heater fan is the motor. not the switch . you can get a good one, and just unplug the one that is in there and plug into the good one and see if it works better. cause taking it out will be a pain in the ass cause of all the ducts you need to remove to get it out. well it was like that in my crx , i dont know about 92-95

If your talking about the blower motor then it's very simple on civics, Just 4 10mm bolts holding it place under the passenger side glove box.

Lol still wrong the fan runs from a 12a power, thats after the thermostat completes the connection (when it goes off)which makes the fan go off.
