Anyone on here have a lot of knowledge on what the camps in Fort Mac are like these days? Specificly the Suncor camps?

Thanks for the 14 years of LOLs. Govern yourselves accordingly and avoid uppercut reactions!

i lived off making my own sandwiches and cerial... the food is disgusting...
i was just there for 3 months
Nor-alta is filled up and millenium is on its way. Black sands still has room in it.
The larger outages are starting soon so they its only going to be worse.
I heard black sands was really good. I will be heading up there soon, they werent sure which camp yet. All I know is I am working on a Suncor site.
Millennium and Borealis are like my second home They're not bad from a place to sleep and eat sense but there are much better camps up there. You can tell the mgmt company is trying but no fucking internet up there unless you get your own modem from Shaw or have mobile! And no TVs in the rooms- you can bring your own and hook it up to the coax cable. It's always a fucking mess but what do you expect from 2000 rednecks and Newfies living together? (Don't forget your camo print baseball cap, Tapout t-shirt, and lifted dually! Steroids optional!) And the food isn't terrible- it provides sustenance but it ain't exactly like Mom used to make neither. Can't expect much more out of an industrial kitchen though. PB&J sandwiches FTW. All the good fruit in the lunchroom goes quick and there is fuck all for variety at night shift but cookies, donuts, and other pastries are available all of the time. /rant
In short, get into Noralta or Blacksands if you can. Cleaner, TV, and internet, more privacy, and quieter smaller camps. Food isn't much better but you have more choices for lunch.

That was some good info, thanks a lot.
Heres a question, how are the rooms for noise? Do you get your own room or are you bunking up with people?
I was at Borealis. Better than Millennium. Borealis you share a bathroom with your neighbor unless you get a 'management' room. I bought my own mini fridge and little TV.
Blacksand you can google and have a look online. The rooms look good according to the pictures. Friends of mine are staying there.
From what I hear, Millennium is a shit hole, and has been for years. Fingers crossed I dont get placed there, haha.
Ask if they can put you in the all women camp :-). Just teasing. Would be interesting though.
Hah, that would be prime if it WASNT fort mac.
You get your own room at Millennium lol. In both camps- as for noise, there is no complete seal between the door and the jamb so you'll always have a crack at the bottom that will let light and sound in. Doors slamming, people clacking their boots across the tiled floors, people getting in late- so it can be noisy but it's hit and miss. Depends on how light/heavy you sleep. No worse than a hostel or dorm I guess. Be aware that all Suncor camps are dry camps- no bars, no booze in the rooms neither. I don't mind it at all though as it keeps the rowdiness and the noise down. I think the old guys mind it the most haha. See you around camp, man. It's not that bad but it's not that great either.
Im not really a heavy drinker so I could care less about that. I have my fitness test tomorrow, and then in a few days should hear back about when I go up and where. Really looking to hop on board the money train!
What kind of positions stay in camps? How good is the pay?
Depends on the company. Trades/craft usually from what I know.
Rough range at suncor for under 5 yrs experience?
No idea, this will be my first time up there.
