They are pretty good for sure, but quite expensive. I would go with a Mile Vacuum instead which are widely considered to be the best on the market. Keep an eye out and you can find them for sale occasionally.

In reality, most quality brand name vacuums will work quite well for most people. We had a Kenmore canister that lasted for years and it's replacement a couple of years ago was a Miele canister - got to say that the Miele though is quite a bit quieter then the Kenmore and pulls so easily. Best thing is to go to a vacuum shop and just ask questions and try them out. Check out Vacuum Specialists or Superior Vacuums - both places were a wealth of information when we started looking. Sears is another place to check out.
    Will fuck off, again.

I remember a Kirby door to door salesman coming to my parents house, and at the time I had mild asthma. When we said we didn't want to buy the vacuum, the salesperson went as far as to say to my dad "so you're telling me your son's health isn't worth $2000?" (or however much the vacuum cost). He was promptly removed from our house, and I've always had a negative view of Kirby ever since haha.

We've had our Kirby Vacuum for over 10+ years and it still works just as good as day 1...

They are reallllyyy pricey tho, which is a con..especially with all the "specialty attachments" you can get.

they are very powerful and indestructible. my parents bought one when i was a kid, and they still have it. the only drawback is some people think they're heavy (I've never had a problem with that though).

vacuum is good but the sales men are terrible.

he spent 5 or 6 hours in our house because he said he was going to do a carpet shampoo for free.... then runs around showing all this stuff a regular vacuum cant do. but the price was about 4K we bought it just to get rid of him then canceled it the next day. when he came back for his vacuum he offered a "special price of 3000$ then 2000$ and i believe he got as low as 900$ before we told him to gtfo.

We have had one for maybe five years + and it just broke the other day.
Just stopped working all together... Motor now doesnt turn on or anything.
For the price you pay it cleans amazing but the separate add ons are ridiculous.

Its not the kind of vacuum you pick up and just use, theirs so much different add ons or things you gotta lower or raise before cleaning.
The addons are annoying to put on as it usually includes taking off alot of main parts.
The one BIG annoying thing was the Hose attachment only goes on when the floor brush part is taken off with the main belt. So if you want to go back to vacuum now you gotta rebuild. Stupid amount of work to switch parts.

It was amazing minus the lack of parts, price, and its heavy.
The whole teaching every one to use it was very annoying too. My parents to this day still dont know how to use anything but the regular vacuum feature.

Oh ya those Legit Kirby bags get PRICEY if you want the allergy ones; they also fill up VERY fast.

We've decided to go bag less with a Dyson now.

Go rent a carpet cleaner at RONA for $25 or so. WAY better than the Rug Doctor's you see at Safeway. Your carpet will look way better after that than it will with a good vacuum. Much cheaper than a Kirby too.
