I'm no carpenter so I guess my opinion isn't really valid. But my thought would be that as long as you don't have moisture issues in your basement that PT should not be required.
if you dont use pressure treated you are suppoesed to use some kinf od a vapor barrier / seal to stop the moisture from coming up through the concrete and rotting the wood out over time..

Even if it isn't a requirement it is still a good idea to do regardless.
Depending on what chemicals were used, pressure treated wood is not advised to be used for interior use. High moisture content causes shrinkage, as well, the sawdust from cutting is toxic. There are some uses..but best to avoid it. Just use proper vapour barriers.Originally posted by sputnik
