Yeah, maybe them. One of them for sure. I think it's a pretty common thing so they should know right away.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

So do any of you guys get some sort of insurance to protect against your nanny getting hurt or stealing shit out of your house? pretty sure homeowners insurance wont cover this. I also know that in Alberta nannies are not required (ie are exempt) from WCB

If you don't trust her not to steal why would you trust her with your kids? Your priorities are strange.

We ended up having to get a new nanny due to our current one getting pregnant infact she was pregnant already after we hired her - 2 weeks later she was like i have an appointment for my 12 week ultrasound :/

anyway can I use the same payroll account number for the new nanny as well?

You're still the same employer in the same line of business so I don't see why not.
    Will fuck off, again.

The accounting side of having a nanny is a pain in the arse. Every month I pay her taxes and make sure everything is above board, somehow last year I overpaid the remittances and because I have a credit CRA wants even more paper work to try and figure out when I overpaid - why can't they just send me a check for the amount I overpaid?. I made her (nanny) T4's and did the T4 summary and did her ROE and they still need even more information...

Had the same happen to me.
Made me fill up a form showing the breakdown of each month and explain why/how I overpaid.
Good thing I keep a print out of all the payment receipts.
Haven't heard back from them since. That was a month ago.

I figured it all out last night. I overpaid my remittence by $350 last november but that means they owe me money - hopefully they will mail me a check or tell me how I can use that credit.

Well shit my nanny gave her notice today, her husband told her she needs to go back to school to get a job to earn more money in order for them to buy a house in Calgary. But I now have only 14 days or less to find a new nanny and school holidays start next thursday. Anyone have nannys that know other nanny's wanting a job then PM me.

We had one contact but she wanted $16 per hour NET - so around $20 an hour gross. We pay our current nanny $16 an hour and then flat rate $16 an hour cash for Over 40 hours a week. $20 an hour would cost me like an extra $1500 a month which I can't afford.

i see posts all the time on the Westside Moms and Dads facebook group (Aspen, West Springs, Cougar Ridge) area for nanny share or their nanny needing new work, you might have better luck there.

ya we posted there too. and kijiji and a nanny site I guess I was sharing my frustration more than anything.

Might end up with a millenial nanny - unsure I want that situation though.

We had a millennial nanny. Probably the worst nanny you could possibly get in terms of reliability.

I was pretty patient before I fired here. Here was the list of reasons:

    - You developed a pattern of showing up late for work, after assuring us numerous times that each time would be the last. We were unable to be certain that you would show up on time, with us having to call and wake you up after your start time on more than one occasion.

    - You fell asleep while ***** was in your care, and missed picking ***** up from his bus, causing Shelton and I to have to work with the bus driver to arrange to pick him up because you had forgotten to charge your phone and were unreachable.

    - you slept in *****'s bed while ***** was awake and crying in the room next door for over an hour, and you did not wake up until Shelton left work and arrived back home to see what was going on as he could see ***** crying in his crib through the baby monitor.

    - I felt that you did a great job during the first month of your employment, but as you expressed to me in a text message, you decided that focusing on your friends was more important than your job, and unfortunately you made this decision abundantly clear in your actions while at work.
Good luck man, for the money you're offering, all you're going to find are millennial nannys from our experience. And that was 4 years ago.

My BIL is super cheap. Super, super cheap. Especially when it comes to Nannys. He actually changed to a Nanny that didn't drive so that he could save $3 per hour. He pays $20 before deductions and he scours for cheaper Nannys all the time.

    Good luck finding someone cheaper.

god damn. $20 an hour plus the overtime that we usually need per month is like 50k per year.

I know I wouldn't trust paying someone essentially minimum wage to raise my kids.

$16 per hour is 33k a year. Thats more than enough I think. And especially for nannys that dont have that much experience. If I was paying $20 an hour I would want my meals cooked for me too at the moment I have to do all that myself.
