edit - I think you're onto something. Just asking around, Kids & company charges different rates in different parts of the city. From $1000/month in the NE to $1800/month in the NW. You'd think downtown Calgary would be high demand, but I guess not, they're priced in the middle at about $1400. The one in our building is cheaper, and there's a waiting list. Much easier to get into the other downtown ones. The more you know.
That doesn't sound right, I have the Kids&Co fee schedule and all the downtown locations are $1800/month for preschool age up to $2200 for Infant under 12 mo. NE is $1500/month, and the cheapest location in Calgary is Smart Technologies at $1250/month (probably subsidized).

There was a 8-12 month waitlist to get into the Eau Claire K&C when we had our kid, but they've popped up quite a few more locations since then which probably alleviated it.

The daycare in the Penn West building was really cheap when we looked into it, but it had a 2-3 year waitlist and employee priority.

It's what a co-worker told me. Maybe old rates.

    $2200/month, holy hell that's nuts!

We used to have daycare in the SW (westbrook) area and it was $1150 for a 2 year old and $900 for a 4 year old. That was until mid 2017.

That's dirt cheap. For a difference of $25k per year, I would try really really hard to juggle my schedule to make daycare work. You're in town for 1/2 the month, couldn't the wife work 7-5 for the weeks when you're not? It'd take a pretty significant promotion to earn another $25k/year after tax.

my oldest is now too old to go to daycare. She would only qualify for afterschool care. If I could find a afterschool care / daycare where it would allow pickup to 6.30pm then I would be fine with that. We are thinking of doing Nanny share with a friend that works with my wife who still requires afterschool care but not all day care.

Well one spouse can stay home but that hits the bottom line as well. Are far as expensive, just wait until they're in school and involved in activities - 3 wrestlers in our house added up to big grocery bills and then there were wrestling fees, tournaments, football fees and music/band fees/trips and on and on and on.

Shit, living suddenly gets cheap when they all move out.
    Will fuck off, again.

It’s like Rage said, kids make a Mclaren seem affordable.
