Sky diving is pretty safe now, its very low in terms of risking your life compared to say bungie jumping. Who here has tried it and how did you like it?

Reports have said that if you are afraid of heights, sky diving will cure your fear.

Bungee Jumping has more fatalities than Skydiving?

Where did you get these stats from?

Honestly, I wouldn't go anywhere in Southern Alberta. When I was looking for places for a dive, all the "reviews" I found were obvious business VS business trolling, made me think how unprofessional they all are down here.

I took my dive in Abbotsford (Abbotsford Skydive Center), on a clear day, you get awesome views of the ocean and mountains.

Was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life, and I plan on doing it again (and again).

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

i just did it in december, in Byron Bay, Australia, 14,000ft.
it was one of the most amazing things i've ever done. i was the first out of the plane and it was intense as!
this is pretty much the view you get, so damn nice! this isn't me. and my instructor also let me grasp the handles and control the chute (shute?) while it was open. very fun, would do again!

but i have heard that bungee jumping and swinging is even more intense. i'm hoping to go to NZ for their 134m bungee jump and the 300m swing. a friend has done these and skydiving and said skydiving has nothing on both bungee/swing for intensity!

I really wanna go but have been putting it off.

Any good places around calgary? preferably more to the west for a better view of the mountains and stuff.

Skydived from 15,000ft last July in NZ. Enjoyed it, except for the pressure points of the harness once the chute opened...

Also did the Nevis bungy and Shotover Canyon Swing. Best one was the swing, since I did "the chair," where you lean back and get that backwards falling sensation. Both the bungy/swing require a bit more commitment, since you make the decision to jump, whereas with skydiving the guy you're strapped to just pushes you out.

Statistically it's all very safe (outside of Southern Alberta...), so I don't get nervous at all when doing it. If I were to die doing it, it'd be a sweet obituary.

i did 14000 at byron as well! so sick to do it over the water/beach/forest. they ran it really well and in over 1 million jumps have had no accidents.

i did my first jump in beiseker a few years ago, was pretty good but nothing compared to how they ran skydiving in australia

that being said, everyone HAS to skydive at some point in their life, one of the best experiences you will ever have!

Nothing beats the bungee jump in switzerland, the "goldeneye" jump. Last time I checked it was one of the highest jumps from a landmark 220m IIRC.

He becomes your best friend pretty quick.

Did it for the first time this summer in Vegas. Extreme sky diving. We had 8 guys on a bachelor party so we got the planes all to ourselves. I got to go out last which is the best because you get to watch all your buddies disappear into thin air. All the guys kind of got rolled out of the plane. My guy was cool because we stood up at the door for what felt like forever, and he let me take that first step into thin air.

By far the most extreme intense experience ever.

Once the chute went we did some pretty cool tricks with the chute which was surprising pretty fun.

I highly recommend the experience and Extreme.

Oh and he had to get heli-rescued from the mountain valley he landed in, apparently he hiked for over 2 hours to find a way out but was unable to.
