Nikon lens rebates are active in Canada. Thinking about getting the 85mm 1.8G actually

damn that is a smoking deal considering that they are going for ~725 US$ used, you could buy one and re-sell it for $750 BNIB but profit is very small, around 50-70$ after shipping fees
the 55mm is such a sweet lens, if only it wasn't that big
although it's not overly big compared to my CV 50 1.5
I ordered a "Slide" strap from Peak Designs (Link) and they offer free shipping for Canada. I was surprised to see it actually shipped from Canada, so no clearing customs or extra fees.
Awesome strap btw, one of the best I've ever used, especially for heavier cameras.
Think they'd support the 500mm?

yeah, for the size it's surprisingly light.Originally posted by blitz
If you leave the hood off it's not that big, and it's light too.
55 + 28 would be a nice travel combo for sure
i have the leash and it's awesome for smaller cameras, feels like cutting through your body with a heavier camera so might check this out!Originally posted by blitz

which heavy camera have you tested wit it? 645Z?
I think so, the connectors would be the weakest part, but no weaker than a normal strap IMO. Strap would be singinficantly wider/more comfortable than a stock Nikon strap.Originally posted by Go4Long

Yup, 645Z with an of the lenses I own and it feels great. I agree my Leash straps felt like piano wire with a heavy camera.Originally posted by taemo

That is exactly what I was thinking today. But what am I going to do with my FE 35?Originally posted by taemo

Woo, that's good news. Too tempting. Did you get a wide converter to go with it?Originally posted by blitz
I just pre-ordered the Sony 28/2 FE from TCS, hoping to get one before my trip next month.
Just got the email that it's waiting for me, they just got the first shipment of them!
I want to test out the wide angle converter first, and I didn't have time on the way home. If it looks decent I'll probably grab one. I hope the little lens hood on it is removable as I'd like to have the option to use square filters on it.
First impression the lens is really good. Huge distortion if it's uncorrected, sharpness seems good at f2 and AF is reasonable quick.
Mark, how's the 85/1.8 so far?

It's pretty awesome. I have a week left to play with it in case I want to return it. It is stunningly sharp, even at F1.8 and at distance. Definitely better than the 50/1.8, but that was expected. The lens required AF fine tune of +7 under very warm lighting, which is the first time I have ever had to AF fine tune a lens, but apparently not abnormal from what I read regarding light temps. Not sure how I feel about that, but since it's such a small adjustment, and it works at all subject distances, I don't see a reason not to keep it. I would be very surprised if the 85 isn't the sharpest of all the 1.8G primes, and it happens to be the cheapest next to the 50mm.Originally posted by msommers

My only complaint is the lack of VR. At least for me personally, I really need VR in the 85mm range. I need at least 1/200 to counteract my shaky hands unless I have some kind of support, which makes it less useful (for me) in really low light where I plan to use it sometimes. At $469 though it's a no-brainer. Pretty hard to complain at that price, but I wouldn't even think twice about paying $1,000 for the same lens if it had VR.
I mostly bought it because I have a niece now, and along with my friends, babies are popping up everywhere, so I will be taking more people pictures than I'm used to for sure.
My new travel kit might be the 16-35/4 + the 85/1.8 when I don't feel like carrying a 70-200/2.8 which probably weighs more than both other lenses + my D810 combined haha.
In other news, the Coolpix A is down to $329 in the USA which is so damn cheap. I am so pissed that our dollar is as weak as it is!!! Still costs around $450 CAD landed after shipping, and they are only $499 in Canada.
I also want an L-bracket, and they all come out of the USA, so all the good ones are $200+ CAD which blows.

Anyone know of any good deals on memory right now? Doesn't matter if it's CF, SD, or micro SD or that it's super fast since it's just for music. Looking for 64gb cards right now.
Just doing the usual rounds and so far I'm just seeing these right now.

Mitsu, I KNOW you know a good deal so don't hold out on me
Do you care if it's a brand name?
There are these for $10.99 but I wouldn't put any data I cared about on it haha. I guess for $10 who cares (WTF the price went up after I posted???)
http://www.amazon.ca/Micro-Class-Ada...=64gb+micro+sd
Or these sold directly from Amazon for $19.85 so they would at least be easily returnable if they died right away:

http://www.amazon.ca/microSDHC-Class...=64gb+micro+sd
If you want a brand name, I can't find anything better than the $29.99 Lexar you posted. Amazon has the same deal:
http://www.amazon.ca/Lexar-Platinum-...ywords=64gb+sd
I don't really care if it's brand name, just as long as it's reliable cause it's going into an iPod and I don't want to keep cracking it open to pull out a flaked out card. Since none of those first three have any reviews, I'll skip those. I just saw that Lexar deal right after I posted too. I have a $40 credit with Amazon so I think that might be the deal haha
I'm really hoping a 64gb CF card deal comes up!

I'm in Texas next week if you want to save on shipping.
