Damn that's tempting Spikers! Might just have to pickup a T3i/T4i from you...I imagine they are brand new (non-refurb) with full warranty/receipt?

PS - For those of you interested, TCS has Canon 320EX flashes on sale (+ extra $40 instant rebate)...so they are only $169 right now!

yeah they are all brand new, just a deal I can get as a promo through work from a camera / photo chain here in Canada. Fully reputable and all that, and it is all on the up and up. If anyone wants to take me up on it, I can hook them up.

You will typically never see a lens worth buying on sale with heavy discounts (i.e. never any of the "pro" stuff).

It's the entry level body/lens combos that sometimes get discounted heavily.

Saneal's doing a bunch of bundles and rebates on stuff. Looks like a lot of the Olympus PEN series, including the OM-D.

Also a lot of Canon stuff's gone down.

Canon 70-300mm IS is now under $400.00, it was sitting at over $700 a couple months ago lol

Doesn't the D600 handle better low light than D800?

Still, I'm conflicted to which one of these 2 I should upgrade to.

The D600 is ever so slightly better at high ISO, but not to a degree that I think anyone would ever notice without critical examination of 2 identical crops. Both are top of the heap, ISO shouldn't really be a concern.

Keep in mind in both cases, almost every imaginable use of either camera's image, save for perhaps a billboard print, will involve using a down sampled image. That is where you see some real benefit from the extra resolution (in both cases), as well as having the option to print ridiculously huge if you want.

The other argument to be made is you need to be more careful with 36MP than 24MP if you're after critical sharpness.

My advice to you is to get the D600 UNLESS you need 36MP for something, a PC sync socket, 1/8000 shutter specifically for freezing action (vs 1/4000), or 1/250 flash sync (vs 1/200). Both are dust/weather sealed to the same degree, and share the same viewfinder as the D4 save for the eye cup.

I personally needed none of that so I went with the D600 but I would be equally as happy with the D800 I'm sure. I decided to spend the extra $1000 on a lens.

D600 has very marginally better ISO, D800 has very marginally better dynamic range. Unless you're pixel peeping hard, it's a wash and you're not going to see any difference under normal circumstances.

The D600 is a better camera per-dollar, the D800 is more full-featured (Better controls, better AF, higher resolution) but pricey.

I tried them both out and instantly liked the D800 more and how it felt, I was surprised how different they were. But I'm still debating if feels $1000 better or not because performance-wise they're too close to care. D800 is likely the last body I'd buy which is another factor for me to just be completely happy and have every feature under the sun. How much are people getting for their D300S's these days?

Really though, I have too many wants and not enough money... Home audio (20k+), camera gear (8k+), down payment (100k+), travel for months on end (15k+)...imagine if I had a gf/wife to buy for

In that Vistek flyer on page 3 they have 30% off in stock Panasonic lenses. If it applies to all of them, that's a pretty good opportunity for m43 users.

The D800 felt a bit better for me too, but for me it wasn't a $1000 difference. I have huge hands and the D600 is comfortable still. Weight has never really been a concern, but the slightly smaller/lighter body will be nicer to lug around I guess.

I also said the D300 would be the last body I would buy haha. Just sayin'!

    I got $700 for my D300 (17k actuations), and I covered the shipping so I guess $680ish.

I've seen them go as low as $550 but that is the exception not the norm based on my research.

People seem to be asking $800-950 for their D300S'. It's a bit tricky because it's still a current camera sold for around $1250.

eBay completed listing search is usually an OK indication of worth if there's enough being sold to see any sort of trend.

Henry's has it a bit cheaper, and shipping is free too. I did a double take when I saw that.
