Brrrr....blower motor failing (I think)

Hi all,

I have a 1999 Corolla and I suspect the blower motor is about to go. Starting today, there is a low grinding noise coming from the glove box area and the blower (both hot and cold) are very weak, specifically at low speeds.

I phoned Charlesglen and they quoted me $800 to replace the blower motor, if that infact is the problem.

So, I'm wondering if there is a way I can look into it myself before bringing it in. I read it may be clogged (from leaves and other debris).

Any suggestions/experiences would be very much appreciated!!

usually you can remove the glovebox if needed, generally there is a cover on the bottom of the blower motor assy that is used to change the carousel filter, open that, pull out the filter, see leaves and/or mice droppings if applicable, dust it off and reinstall.

the noise is moreso grinding or a low pitched whirring? whirring usually means leaves.

Haha wow that is an UNREAL price for a blower motor.
On my neon it was 3 screws holding it in under the dash, and $24 for a replacement from Pick-n-Pull.
