Default 2011 G25, yeah i thought it was an ad misprint

maybe im living under a rock but i had no idea these existed here - i dont think i saw one at the auto show, i guess this things been in japan for 3 years now sold as the the Nissan Skyline 250 GT and they're bringing it over here. competes against?: you guessed it, the IS250 and 328i.

“With the new Infiniti G25 Sedan, we’re broadening the appeal of the G Line with a model designed to provide an additional choice for buyers looking for a true luxury sedan, but who might not need the higher levels of performance provided by our larger engine-equipped G37 models,” said Infiniti Vice President Ben Poore. “The G25 is positioned in the heart of the luxury sport sedan market, allowing us to bring Infiniti’s Inspired Performance to a wider selection of buyers.”
'sport' is = 218 hp - 187lb/ft tq, 2.5L V6 (a VQ25HR, nothing we have here uses it), 7 spd auto (no manual option), awd or rwd options, no nav, starts @ ~$36k for base model.

Standard features on the G25 include 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, High Intensity Discharge (HID) Xenon headlights, 4-wheel Anti-lock Disc Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS). The G25 Sedan Journey model adds RearView Monitor, heated front seats, heated outside mirrors, auto on/off headlights, Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control and more.

will we start seeing all the altima owners ditch their 3.5Ls for a slower more 'luxurious' Nissan product with a G35 exhaust note? i think they should've offered a manual tranny at least because their competitors both do.

Well after all A4 started in mid 30s and Passat can easily go into 40s. So there is a bit of overlap.

Also, G25 has very similar spec to IS250. So it may work.

They have been selling G/Skyline with 2.5, 3.0, and 3.5(now 3.7) for years over seas. I think its a good idea for the people that want better MPG in an Infiniti. Its the same motor series as the 3.5l

^ I check the infinity website, apparently the G25 and G37 has the SAME freaking fuel mileage. wtf?

both rated at 11.7L/100 km city,????

then what is the point of having the lower rated motor?

G25 is not that much cheaper, you can actually quickly make the G25 move expensive than the G37 buy adding a few options.

Well if you look into it:
    G25 20/27
    G37 19/27

    IS250 21/30
    IS350 20/27

    328i 18/28
    335i 17/26

    They are all pretty close
This car will be for people who dont want option it up or dont feel the need for all that power.

I was wondering the same thing - I only heard of the G25 a few months ago when I started seeing commercials for it. Specifically looked for it at the car show, and they had one.

As was stated, not much of a cost saving. Still started around $40K, could easily get north of 50 in a hurry. Looked nearly identical to the G37.

Based on that, I also assumed the smaller engine was for fuel economy purposes only, but with the numbers shown above, I can't figure it out. It really looks like it's a G37 without the Go.

Well if you look at the price and what is included in the base g25, the value is quite good, coming with many features standard that the competition has as options ie. auto, leather etc. It is 7k less than the g37, which strangely in canada is only available in awd with the auto. But most g37's will also get the premium or tech package bringing it up to over 10k more than the g25. Something weird though as the msrp of the 328xi being lower than the 328i

The G37 cannibalizes Maxima Sales, not the G25. The G37x is almost exactly the same price as a similarly equipped Maxima. For that reason I've never understood why anyone would ever buy a Maxima. The price difference goes away after you add 1 or 2 options to the Maxima, and the base G37x is extremely well equipped.

I did notice they stopped selling any sort of "base" 2WD G37 though, which would have been even cheaper yet.

It is still available in the US, but that price difference is only 4k from g25->g37. They probably figure here it would kill sales of the g25 so they dont offer it, which is probably smart. With the popularity of say the is250/awd, it should probably still do well.

IMO, they just matched the lines up of IS with the G.

    Pricing is pretty similar too.
