Looking for a good IP Camera so I can check on things at home while I am out.
Any recommendations?

I have a dlink dcs-930l and it works great and i view it thru the dlink iphone app
I have a Trendnet TV-IP422W and think it works great. Also has an iphone app that's a bit choppy, might be better if hard wired because it's connected wireless, but does the job. Picked it up from Dell days of deals for around $160.
foscam off ebay or dealextreme are well reviewed, even some of the knockoffs are good.
I have a sony SNZ-RZ25. I can move it all over the place remotely, listen in, and set it up for motion capture. It's pricey but I can zoom in on a dime.

Use AXIS cameras in our server rooms/closets at work, decent quality and web viewable.
Thanks for the options I will take a look at them.

I have a dlink 920 something, bit older now as I've had it for about 5 years? But it still works great. The newer dlink's will have more features, but for a basic camera this thing is pimp. I remote in and review what I want. Think mem express carries these cams too.

Heyy guys,
any opinions on a night view camera for my place? I wanna be able to zoom in and still have the quality half decent and probably look for something where you can clearly zoom in and see a dime. I have all the wires run so I can hard wire everything for the exterior.
thanks as always!
D-Link might have something you're looking for - check out what Futureshop offers at this link.Originally posted by TL911

Getting an outdoor IP solution that offers zoom and night time capabilities like you're describing might cost you a bit though but I do know that the D-Link IP cameras I have at our shop were fairly east to set up. Only drawback is that you need something to store captured images/video to but seeing as most people have web space sitting mostly unused this shouldn't be a problem (camera FTP's captured images/video to web space instead of having a PC running a program and capturing same info).
Will fuck off, again.

Thanks a lot Speedog! I will give it a shot and see what I can find! I will keep this thread updated.
spare smartphone or tablets work too.
Speedog: Tell me more about this sending video to FTP's? Easy to setup and then view from your smartphone?
The D-Link IP cameras (DC-933L) I've got installed are connected via WIFI to my router and because they have a built-in web server, I've set them up to FTP any captured images to my web space - I initially had them sending everything to a computer and having the computer do all the motion detection/capture but it was a real resource hog on the computer. You can also set them up to trigger on motion on specific parts of the area the camera can see and yeah, I can watch live from my cellphone. The main thing is to make sure you watch your web space so it doesn't fill up although one could probably automate that process as well. Also capable of capturing sound and advanced models can also transmit sound (your voice).Originally posted by mr2mike

Reviews would show that some people find them difficult to set up but I didn't find it all that difficult and once set up, they're very easy to move around and re-arrange because they connect via WIFI - all one needs is a nearby 110V power source for the ones I have.
Will fuck off, again.
Please do provide more detail on your ideas as it appears that TL911 was looking for an exterior solution.Originally posted by narou
