Hey guys, I just wanted to take a quick couple of minutes and give huge props to Dan at Screamin Paintworks. I went to Dan a couple of weeks ago, to get a carbon fibre hood and carbon fibre air duct installed on my 350Z and I couldn't have left happier.
The hood had some fitment troubles, but Dan took his time and did the best he could to make it fit as properly as possible. I had been talking to a couple of other shops for installation costs for the two things and was quote twice as much as what Dan charged me. I had to go back to him once after, when I realized I wanted the fitment to be even better and he spent another hour or so on the car without charging me at all for it.
And he absolutely amazed me the other day when I had to go back to him for some body work on the front lower side of my bumper after some asshole hit and run my car parked at a mall. The damage was fairly obvious and the only way to completely correct it was to have it replaced. But after seeing that I was hesitant to go through insurance (in case they rule against me due to lack of proof of hit and run and have my premium go up), Dan suggested that he could try the heat gun method. Basically leave the car under the head gun for a couple hours relax the bumper and pull it back in place. He explain that it wasn't going to be 100% but can be pretty close.
I was happy with that considering I am might get an aftermarket bumper later on down the line and wasn't in the mood to spend $1500 on a brand new stock one. And when I asked him what he would charge me for that, he said FREE. Yeap, that's right, he just said it isn't really much trouble for me, just have to leave the car under the heat and pull the thing, so I won't charge you anything. I've got to say I was really impressed with that.
In the end, I took my car to him today and he pulled out the bumper and while it's not 100% it's fairly close and barely noticeable. I doubt the people that don't know would even notice it. Although he had to spend a little more time than he thought originally. He had to remove the bumper, since the water bottle was right behind the bumper at that spot and he couldn't reach it with his hands. Considering removing the bumper fixing something and putting it back on is supposed to be a couple hours labor, he only charged me $40 for it.
Sorry for the long read, but all in all I would recommend Dan with my eyes closed. He does amazing work and is awesome to deal with. I know that I will be going back to him, without thinking twice, whenever I need anything done.
