Great, only thing that sucked was the stock browser. Dont think it and flash played nice.

Dunno yet. Had 32% life when I got it. Played around for a few minutes and it didnt drop. Plugged it in around 930 and when I went back to my desk at lunch it was 84%

Can these non-apple tablets handle electronic magazine subscriptions and browse the internet just as well (or better) than an iPad?

Both my dad (birthday & fathers day coming up which is why I'm curious) and my boss want a tablet pretty well for the sole purpose of browsing the internet, reading magazines, sending the odd e-mail, etc.

So, any reason to get an iPad over something like this? The optional keyboard is a huge plus.

Can they take third party programs (like VLC or something)? Or are they like apple where it's all apps and their own OS?

I charged mine last night so I had a full battery today. I brought it to work and it was used on/off thru the day. Didn't watch videos beyond youtube videos, lots of browsng on the internet, downloaded a bunch of apps (and subsequently deleted a bunch of them).

    Observations:

    - the screen is very nice, even when outside.
    - The office app that it comes with is very good!
    - The facebook app crashes non stop
    - 2X makes an awesome RDP app
    - Battery life is excellent. It was used thru the day from 7am and by 5pm, I still had 50% battery life on it.
    - It refused to come out of the hibernate a few times and i had to hold the power button down to restart it
    - Fingerprints. Wow. It's bad.
    - A lot of people have no idea who Asus is and thought my eeepad was a .
    - Swype built in is nice!
    - The form factor fits nice when holding it with 2 hands. With 1 hand, it'll feel heavy after a few minutes
    - I store media on my windows home server. The eeepad's "MyNet" media player can see the homeserver, see the files, but whenever i try to play any videos I have, it refuses to play. It just closes. Very frustrating.
Edit: The 3rd party media players i've tried so far can't access any media stored across the network.

I still can't connect to my shawmail account - even when im at home on my shaw network.

Not sure yet if i'll keep it.

Facebook crashes for me too and mynet says fail to load but can see all my videos. Fingerprints are very bad. I use pocketcloud for rdp and works well.

Want to get mynet working as that will be a huge plus on this thing.

Mine lives in my living room with a picture screen saver so it looks like a picture frame but have internet access and server access without leaving laptop downstairs.

I'm a fan of tablets for travel and having a compact computer for taking places outside of the house. Plus they are wicked for sitting on the couch chillin and surfing some Beyond. The fact that this one runs android and isn't iOS satisfies the nerd in my that much more.

I am not having any issues with the facebook app, i am annoyed though every time i load facebook in the browser it goes to the mobile site, not the full version. the mynet thing works fine too, no crashing, but i didn't really use it.

flash works fine, a little slow, but alright, i play my facebook games with a bit of lag, but still functional.

i have not had any issues with it locking up or not waking up... did you guys get/install the OTA update? mine had one within a few hours of being connected to wifi.

I found a video player that can play all formats, called vital player, but i still dont think it'll do network streaming.

The GPS works fine, as long as you ahve it tethered to your phone or something it'll be a fantastic GPS, good thing about google maps new version is that it does caching, so if you map a route before you leave home (but you have to be near a window/outside so the GPS can find you) it'll retain the map and directions, however if you deviate and do not have network access, you probably wont get much support.

Cant wait for someone to release a stand/chargign dock so i can have it on my desk or somewhere lookin pretty.

i do wish you could set up different user profiles though, it would be nice if you could use the lock pattern to define 2-3 different patterns, all which open a different profile, and thus, a different set of homescreens/caching/app users and stuff. that would be fantastic.

but overall this thing is amazing, it's exceeded all my expectations, and will only get better when i can get the dock.

Are you talking about the mobile site or the actual app downloaded from the app store?

Agreed, I updated mine and a few issues these guys are seeing I am not.

If you find one let me know, I was going to make one. Lol

Lots of the roms have this, there is also a root method out there. Once this picks up I am sure there will be lots.

In the address bar in the browser trying entering "about:debug" and hit go. Be sure to erase the 'http://www.' that the browser likes to leave in the address bar for you. No page will load and you may or may not get a pop-up message 'Debug mode'. But if you now go to Menu > More > Settings in the browser and scroll to the bottom of the list, you should see a new group of options under the 'Debug' heading. The bottom setting is 'UAString' and if selected will give you the option of enabling your browser to identify itself as Android, Desktop or iPhone.

Select desktop then try to go to facebook.com.

YMMV, this MAY work for you. I know it worked on previous android browsers.

There was an update to the Facebook App yesterday - once I downloaded it the FC's stopped occuring.

I found a new DLNA player last night that ended up playing all my movies just fine. It started with an S (Skilla or something weird like that?). I can't exactly check what it was...

I had it on my desk this morning and was browsing beyond on it. I then went to get a coffee, came back, and it wouldn't come out of the hibernate/sleep. I held down the power button to restart it and when it restarted, all my user data was wiped.
