Hi guy's

Joking a side....Just picked up the new Motorola XOOM today from Futureshop. It is a really sweet tablet. Haven't had time to play with it yet but the browser and the system is really fast. I am new to Android so this will take me some time to get use to.

I bought the iPad2 for my daughter last week. Wanted something different for my self, Really liking this device so far. Will post more updates as i use get use to it more.

What did that set you back?

Is there a stand to use it as a picture frame and charge it? I want to get one i can leave in my living room as a frame and have internet access.

Nice, but its too pricey. The Asus EEE pad at $399 with an ips display is more tempting. But Honeycomb looks great compared to the antiquated boring can't do shit iOS.

Do they have a demo you can play with?

They do have an Demo model you can try. You just have to ask them to take it out for you. It was $599 at futureshop and Bestbuy. And they do have the optional stand/charger you buy separate.

After having the iPad for sooooo long the Honeycomb is a great change of fresh air. It is really a cool operating system to play with.

Ohh, i also love the live Wallpapers that iOS never had

Sorry OT but Future shop got a restock on ipad 2 this morning. Picked up a 16GB they had 4 left. Beacon Hill.

The app selection is actually pretty good rage. So far, last night i downloaded pretty much every app i had on my ipad. They work just as good on the Xoom as they do with the ipad.

The only problems i noticed so far are, YouTube videos are little laggy and not as smooth as the iPad. Also if you have some cool Live Wallpapers moving around in the back round it really slows the machine down.

The Mail and Gmail apps are really nice and way better than the iPad's mail. The Web browser is also much better and faster then the iPad's Safari.

Widgets are also really cool on the Xoom. You can download bunch of really neat ones and have them on your screen.

Compared to iPad Battery life was OK.. I used the Xoom for about 6 hours last night playing with androids app store and downloading stuff, listening to music, playing games and the battery level was down to 23% still. So i would say 7 hours battery life is what your looking at with lot of use.

Also The price is little high i think for this device. After playing around with it I could see it being $399 to $499 but for almost $600 it is little pricey.

That is off contract for the wifi only version. For now, we only get the wifi version in canada. The verizon 3g version in the states is priced at $800 off contract.

Thats why the ASUS one at $399 seems more appealing. Plus IPS display.

The flood gates are about to open on Honeycomb powered Android tablets as there are many more coming from Viewsonic, Samsung, Toshiba, etc.

Once some competition drives the price down this will be sweet. Is the operating system open to install something like GIMP on it?
