So I want to represent a friend of mine to the Crown just to get his ticket slashed in half. Am I allowed to go represent for him or do I need to be a lawyer to be able to do that?

I think you might need written consent too?
Awhile back I drove my moms car and got a ticket so I had to get it deducted. They kept calling me by my moms name..and its not remotely close to a dudes name..
So yes, you can at least to just get a deduction.
Even in provincial court, agents are not permitted for matters that are by indictment (analogous to felonies in the US context). For summary conviction matters (US terminology: misdemeanors - which include traffic offences) agents are permitted with an exception: you can't have an agent at trial (pre-trial would be fine) if the offence is one for which it's possible to receive a sentence of more than 6 months in jail. So that would be impaired driving, sexual assault, that kind of thing.Originally posted by Weapon_R
