FYI, people who get random nosebleeds often have weakened blood vessels, and a nose bleed can be life threatening.

Sure, it sounds silly.... but that is how it is. I've been in Emergency a few times and watched a patient where they could not stop the nose bleed and they had to cauterize... and on two occasions, with COCAINE! Not sure they still do this, but I thought it was neato.

Anyway, trained cops, paramedics, firefighters know this.

Should not have been treated lightly imo.

But on a more serious note, I heard if you don't go to the hospital for a papercut or a little scrap you can get infected and die.

I watched my best friend in elementary get a papercut and then he went to play outside and the wound got infected. He had to go to the emergency room and get treated with antibiotics! The doctors said if he didn't get treated right away he would have died!

Papercuts should not be treated lightly.

(edit: damn it didn't read the persons sign on, joke doesn't work for a girl) haha jokes aside I think the officer acted in a completely respectful manner, he could have said "I don't give a shit, its a nose bleed, my kids get them all the time and they are still here, get your shit together" But instead he offered to waste his time waiting for you to control the situation.

Also as mentioned there isn't anything he could have done, you were obviously coherent and could thus call an ambulance yourself if your nose bleed became too much to handle or could have asked him to call an ambulance for you.

As you hopefully will learn soon the world isn't out their to hold your hand every step of the way.

At the end of the day, OP, you presented the nose-bleed as a minor inconvenience. Not "OH MY GOD I'M BLEEDING FROM MY FACE HELP ME" but "Please give me a minute Officer, I've got a nose-bleed".

Fact: People get nose-bleeds - especially with how dry it is here. And if you dismissed it as something trivial, why would the officer treat it otherwise? It's not like you said "Give me a minute officer, I'm trying to stop the bleeding from this bullet wound in my stomach". What if you had a hangnail? Is first-aid required then? Or you stubbed your toe really bad before getting in the car? Or you hit your funny-bone on the arm-rest? Maybe you have a headache, should the officer immediately offer you an MRI or CT scan to determine if you have brain bleeding? I guess what I'm asking is exactly how insignificant does a problem have to be for you not expect the officer to offer first-aid?

My other question is "how did you expect everyone here to respond?"

My guess:
