    Default Airdrie Peace Officer

So today I was driving from Airdrie to Calgary down the back roads and was pulled over for speeding. Yes, I was speeding and am not arguing that I deserved the ticket, but my issue is with the Peace Officer and how he handled this particular situation.

Just before he saw me or I him, I got a nosebleed. Not a pretty one either. He whips around pulls me over and walks up to my window, where it is very apparant that I am having a bad nose bleed as I had bright red kleenex up to my nose.

Peace Officer "I pulled you over for speeding, licence and registration"
Me "Sorry, but just give me one minute, I just have a nose bleed"
    Peace Officer "Take your time"

Really? No care or concern that I have blood gushing from my face? As he sat there watching me struggle with one hand to pull out my licence and registration he didn't offer to help at all.

Am I justified in feeling super pissed about this or over reacting?

I would say you are over-reacting. He said take your time did he not? That is purely circumstantial and not his problem that your nose is bleeding. shit happens.

What did you want him to do? Suck the blood from your nose?

You wanted him to help? How exactly?

You had a nose bleed... I hear the survival rate for those are pretty high. Chill the fuck out.

Did he sit on your car? Should he have call an ambulance?

Not anything new but the guy did give you a minute. Also I am sure that people have tried sneakier shit to get away from a cop and try and run. He probably stood there so you couldnt pull anything on him or try and run if he went back to his car.

Were you on the road that goes around the scales? I drive that way every day home since my office is right there.

Totally. I'm not going anywhere near that shit without gloves. In his position, I MIGHT hand you a tissue if I had one on hand. That's about the limit of my generosity.

Exactly what did you want him to do?

I'm sure he felt the pain on the inside, but he was worried he would look like less than a man if he broke down crying.

Wow....Thanks for making a person feel so welcome and respected.

I didn't expect him to" put his fingers up my nose" or "suck the blood from my nose". I would have thought that he would have asked if I needed help or show a little empathy rather then stand impatiently waiting for me to get my shit together.

As I said, I deserved the ticket and certainly didn't give myself a bloody nose to get out of it.

I really appreciate the heartfelt comments. For the most part I have enjoyed this community for the last 3 years and have learned quite a bit, but I guess I'll think twice when I post something.

Although after talking to a few friends that are cops, they felt it was his duty to have offered first aid.

But then again as Stevieo has stated.....I am justagirl and would typically over react over anything.

Don't be so butthurt, people are just being dicks because of the way the original post was worded. Makes it sound like you're pissed right off that some dick cop wouldn't treat you like a princess because you have a nosebleed.

I mean, it's just a nosebleed after all. You presumably don't have some bleeding disorder. You've only been bleeding for a matter of seconds. You're not having a heart attack or anything like that. He has no duty to offer first aid. There's really not that much 'first aid' he can do for you. He could call EMS for you if you wanted to waste the time of all involved and receive a huge bill from it. And he did say, "Take your time".

    What more do you want?

I'm not sure what kind of answers you were expecting, but the ones you got were great. lol.
I'm a girl too, but what I want to know. If your nose is gushing blood, wouldn't someone *usually* pull over and wait for it to stop to not be distracted or speed to get to point B faster?....

Good point. He could have charged you with 'Operating a motor vehicle without due care' or whatever that ticket is. I don't think driving WHILE trying to stop a nose bleed WHILE speeding is really regarding the road with due care and respect.

    You got off lucky
