Default total cost of 2011 EVO vs 2011 STi with interest

I hear every day how the evo is way more money than an sti.

I called subaru this morning and got the finance rate which is 5.9% from 3 years right through to 7 years. The 2011 Evos have 0% for up to 4 years and 2.9% for 7 years. The dealership fees are the same , however at subaru calgary they charge more for locking wheels nuts and a block heater over and above dealer fees.

Over 4 years at 5.9 an sti with tech package is $1095 all in per month with $5840 in total interest payed over 4 years.

An Evo over the same period is $981 with no interest payed in that period.

Over 7 years the Sti is $680 a month with an insane $10,416 in interest!!

Over 7 years an Evo is $620 a month with $4997 in total interest payed.

So if both cars are roughly 43000 and the fees both total about 1300 and the tax is the same on both cars how is the evo that much more expensive? I understand im using a tech package and a gsr base but the numbers for a handling package car would still be under that of an Sti.

He also said he wont have the cars for 3-4 months. All of you die hard subaru owners will have something negative to say and thats fine I just wanted to pass on the math I did this morning for everyone to read. You can use an online interest calculator and plug the figures in yourself and see.

Ill check the numbers right now. Totally different cars in my opinion as the twin clutch is a whole other beast.

MR is 0% for 4 years at $1199 all in , with 0 percent interest.

Over 7 years at 2.9% $758 with $6111 in interest charges. So $63672 at the end of the day for an MR over 7 years or $57120. So what appears to be a 10 thousand dollar difference at MSRP is about $6500.

Most people who are cross shopping the Sti are looking for a manual transmission not an MR. I see more BMW and Audi shoppers buying MR's and the MR is often the least money of the cars they are comparing.

Yes a 6 speed would be nice in a GSR, doesnt take away from what it is though for me.

Interesting as I have been pricing these two out myself.

For me, the six-speed is the killer. I also think the STi looks a lot nicer.

Wow Nice to see an un-biased comparison

Just like the guy who puts up a "review" of Jade China Inn .... And then promptly uses the thread to advertise his own competing Chinese food shop

To be fair, Jade China Inn really runs a nazi like operation! Who charges for water and automatically adds tip? haha

Does the GSR have leather, GPS, HID's, auto climate control, sunroof etc? (I actually don't know, not being a smart ass)
When I was cross shopping I didn't even look into the Evo much because I knew I would want the MR and I can't justify paying $55k for a performance only vehicle. As far as I know the GSR is par in performance to the Sti, MR is faster than both in every way. I just heard about the 7'55 lap time at Nurburgring and I was pretty much sold haha

There is no bias in numbers. Its called math. Notice how I didnt say anything about the cars as I actually like both cars they are both fantastic at what they do ( AWD cars that are fun, fast, look good and seat 4 ) grab a calculator

    gpomp

    A base evo gsr is $ 43 858

An Sti with tech package is $ 43 120

I posted the difference between the END of the financed amount and totals with interest.

very surprising to see a car salesman talk about total cost of ownership. isn't the question usually "how much do you want your monthly payments to be?"

I think they wouldn't be saying anything if you compared base vs base. You are clearly trying to up the STI numbers with the tech package to get them on even ground in terms of price.

The 2011 GSR adds bluetooth over 2010's, still no leather or roof. Leather can be added, sun roof I would stay away from as the car comes with a factory aluminum roof to lower center of gravity. HID's can be added as well of course.

There are alot of people who cant justify the 55 k for an MR, and I wonder how many people finance 2011 Sti and dont realize that with interest at the end of the day an Sti over 7 years IS 56 thousand!

My question is never what do you want your payments to be nice assumption though.

What is base Sti price then we can do the math there was well at 5.9%

I never have and never will finance or lease a car... its a cash deal every time. So whats MY incentive to purchase an EVO or an STI?

Not trying to be a ball buster, just interested in your response.
