Depends what you're looking for. Cancun is super touristy, but good fun. Personally though, I prefer Puerto Vallarta. Between my trip to Cancun and my trip to PV, I liked PV 10x more, my hotel was nicer, and it was cheaper to boot.

I stayed at the Grand Oasis in Cancun which was shit IMO, and the Riu Jalisco in PV, which was amazing.

Barcelo palace in the Mayan Rivera. Or grand Porto real in playa del Carmen. 2 of my favorites in Mexico.

Btw if your going in June bring an umbrella. It will most likely rain everyday. Head to cobo San Lucas if your going in June

best thing you can do is just read most, if not all the reviews on resorts. you can find them on most websites. i use itravel2000 and its been great so far.
and don't take seriously reviews like " i hated it " or "i loved it"
look for more descriptive ones so you know exactly what to expect

If you can swing May long, you CANNOT beat this. Ive been to Decameron for a wedding. It does the trick

Just for comparison, when i was in Cancun last Aug the weather was suppose to be complete shit, raining everyday.

It rained one day pretty heavily for 2 hrs and the other days it was mostly sunny(few dark clouds would come by but no precipitation).

Sunscreen is ur best friend, when ur in the shade u are burning also so dont think u can fool the sun or ull be flaking on the airplane back like i did.

Ive been to mazatlan and Cancun and would prefer the east coast, although ive heard some great things about cabo and will go there next.

Cancun for party and beach is top notch.

I went to the Rui Jalasco in Puerto Vallarta in feb and it was wicked. It was the best vacation i've ever had. Resort was awesome. Ive also been to the Bahia Gran Principe Tulum in the Mayan Riveria last summer and it was really nice too.

I was there too and it was awesome. You also get access to the other 2 neighboring resorts. I would recommend it for sure.

To the OP: I've been to Mexico, Cuba twice, and the Dominican. Every single place I've been had groups of people wanting to party like crazy, and most places you go will be like that. Just go hang out at the bar with your friends around 10pm, all the young partiers congregate there getting hammered before going to the disco. Same thing happens every night. A surprising amount of girls seem to be DTF at resorts too haha.
