Speeder hits construction worker on Blackfoot Tr. S.E. and never slows down

Hey guys,

Just after midnight a hit and run collision occurred between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian at Blackfoot Trail under Ogden Road S.E. At the time of the collision the right curb lane of westbound Blackfoot Trail was closed to vehicle traffic to allow maintenance and construction on the north wall of the underpass. The construction area was well lit and well posted with numerous warning signs. The posted speed limit was reduced from 60 kph to 50 kph through the construction area.

The victim was working at this site. A dark colored car, possibly a BMW according to police, was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and struck the victim. The victim was thrown into the air and landed in the eastbound lanes of Blackfoot Trail.

The offending vehicle never slowed down and fled westbound on Blackfoot Trail. The victim was transported to Foothills Hospital where he was treated for multiple fractures and is currently listed as serious but stable condition.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section continues to investigate this incident.

I can see this intersection from my work and it seems like every night Police and EMS have it blocked off for some reason. I even hit a rabbit in this same area one night.

The worker was struck on Blackfoot Trail under the Ogden Road overpass. Hours of diligent work by the Traffic Section resulted in locating the suspected vehicle. Thanks to the media, numerous members of the public have called in to report suspected sightings of the wanted vehicle. Although the Traffic Section continues to investigate this matter, citizens are no longer required to report suspected sightings. Thank you to all who cooperated.

Hopefully they catch this guy. It's amazing how many people speed through construction zones. I generally always make sure to slow down for construction zones, but there's always the douche who blasts by me when I slow down.

Not really. A neighbor most likely called in a BMW parked next door that is wrecked. Traffic unit did very little.
