Stoked to see what my new engine will do this year! I wish I had known about the test and tune sooner, or I would be there for that as well, but I already have plans.
You got my respect. Your MPH is on par with my 1000Originally posted by Commanderwiggin

Also apparently he didnt have any second gear at all... I talked to him he said he does from 1st-3rd.
Wow the stands were super dead tonight, probably because of that hurricane wind.w
I've never been to one of these things? Would someone like to give a run down of how it all works? Can stock cars run on the drag strip? Do you have to 'race' with someone? Run on your own? I wouldn't mind a quick run-down as to how it all works.
You show up between 7:30-8 I believe, pay $25 to race, $5 to rent a helmet, they do a quick tech inspection, and if you pass, you pretty much get in line and race as many times as you want, any car can race. There's stipulations on things if your car is faster than certain speeds.
You line up with whoever else is in line beside you, or you can specify who you would like to race. Its ridiculously easy and simple to do, just head down early on a friday and someone will help you out.

-Pay $25
-Get in line for tech (just ask the girl collecting the money where it is, but isn't hard to find)
-Fill out small form, get car inspected
-Get in line to race
-wait, slowly pull ahead
-wait, slowly pull ahead
-wait, slowly pull ahead
-pull around somebody who has abandoned their car in line (happened to me 3x last night)
-wait...
-At the front of the line, keep your engine running, and pay attention to the volunteer with the headset telling each person what lane to go in.
-Pull into the back of the lane, another volunteer will hand signal you forward for the warm up, and stop you when you're on the pad
-When signalled do a realy shitty burnout to warm up your tires (or maybe that's just me, lol), but don't take off down the track yet, or you'll be laughed at and mocked
- Pull ahead slowly to the pylons on either side of your lane, and pay attention to the Tree. 1 staging Yellow light, keep pulling forward, 2 staging yellow lights, STOP THERE, if it goes back to one yellow, you went ahead to far.
- When both cars have 2 yellow staging lights, then the real lights will light up (and fairly quickly too)
-Yellow, Yellow, Yellow, Green
-GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo (Try to start going between the 3rd yellow, and the green, otherwise you'll have a bad reaction time.)
- Once you're past the 1/4, keep following the track around, you can turn off on any of the turns to shortcut, just watch the other driver
-Stop at the tower to collect your timeslip
-Get back in line to race.

i would show up earlier than 7:30 or 8:00 if you're racing. Get a better spot in the tech inspection line.
As stated, its super easy, so long as your car is roadworthy it's raceworthy.
Cool thanks guys. I'll deff have to check this out. Think it'd be a pretty cool experience. Doesn't matter if you have aftermarket rims and all? Somehow I doubt that running 20's would be a good thing for something like this.
I tried to make it. Damn work! Not sure if I'll be able to knock out some 11's in Calgary on Friday nights without more track prep. Shouldn't be a problem at Castrol, though. If they do eventually build a new track in Calgary, point the damn thing East and show everyone what the Chinook can do.
That was a fun night. Wind didn't really get too bad til' 9:30 ish.
Doesn't matter what your rims/tires are, so long as they're safe. There was a lifted 4x4 truck last night, and I wasn't close enough to tell, but I swear he was running mudders.Originally posted by shakalaka
