Oh, and I should also say that even though I'm against the ignorant f*cks who rip around with straight pipes at 2 am in residential areas in the summer when everyone has their windows open, I also see this tool as nothing more than a photo radar for noise.
If they only have it out between 8pm and 7am I'd be find with it, but if there are escavators with jackhammer attachments ripping into roads on city construction all day, I don't think it's fair to fine motorists for being loud (though once again, some people are just ignorant and these people should be dealt with by by-law officers or police on a case-by-case basis).
So more people don't want regulation, than do... and the city is looking into doing it anyways? Way to listen to your constiuents Ald. John Mar.Calgarians are split on whether the city should regulate vehicle noise. Unscientific surveys online and at city open houses last year found that 49.4 per cent of 1,484 respondents said they don't want regulation, while 48.2 per cent said they wanted the city to catch the excessively loud.

I was woken up this morning by a POS dodge with straight pipe exhaust and the owner felt compelled to run it for an hour.
I'm all for regulation.

dick across the street from me with his dodge cummins td, every goddamn morning he fires the fucker up at 5am. lets it run for like 2 hours then takes off. i can tell when he's home cuz all i hear is his dual exhaust coming out the box and his turbo spooling.
all for this .

Fine by me - everytime I see a vehicle parked on the side of the road I'll just turn off my engine and coast by. F*ck everybody behind me if I cause a pile up
That enforcement would be pretty unfair to those of us who have to run straight pipes on a V8

I am all for this. I am so tired of douchebags with excessively loud exhausts that think its cool to drive 50 in first gear at 7000 rpm. Or V-8s running straight pipes. Straight pipes are for the track not the streets.

But this is Calgary, it won't be trucks that ever get targeted, it'll just be cars.
And what about that police helicopter?
I want then to specify how loud is too loud first. I agree their should be a limit, but this being calgary I have a feeling that the limit's going to be too low. Hell, my car was loud from the factory. What about Harley's?
i'm in for sure, hope they start cracking down on harley riders and kids rocking 5 inch fart cans.

i love going to race city and you have cars like that running 12 and slower in the 1/4 that are just as loud as some cars running sub 10 second runs. usually ends up being a cutless or something running open headers , talk about looking like an idiotOriginally posted by M.alex

I totally agree with this; it's time for people to start respecting other's rights to some peace and quiet, on top of normal traffic, construction, and everything else, a loud exhaust is preventable.
The problem is, it's just another bylaw that's going be go unenforced.
Disagree - you're going to have a bunch of bylaw nazis out there pulling over everybody and turning it into a significant cash cow.Originally posted by Kennyredline
