    Default High River Flood 2011

Came across a thread in 2005 where they posted some pics... pretty similar thus far and came in quite quickly with a bang.

I only got a few crappy pics from my cell phone but will upload the ones from my camera when I get home. Pretty crazy stuff!! The Centre St bridge is closed so if you need to get from the north end to the south end or vice versa, you need to go out to Highway 2 up through Aldersyde.

    Scary stuff!!

Going home in 10 minutes lol... Holy fawk is the river high (i know, i know)

Its up about 15feet + volume from the norm > the train bridge on center is getting hammered by debree + 350+m cubed/second flow of water...

Rio Vista golf course is gone

Okotoks sheep river is in shit too

A few of my buddies have been evacuated from there homes already

Going to do a lot volunteering this weekend (any help is obviously more than appreciated), I'll get some decent pics for you guys as well > and keep updates on WTF is going on...

There are talks of the entire downtown being flooded by Monday

I sure hope it doesn't end up like it was a few years ago, but there is still a ton of snow in the mountains to melt. My fingers are crossed that another flood doesn't hit down there.

Just wait, as your entire vacation is nothing but rain, and your hotel gets flooded

Wow, incredible how quickly water accumulates.

We're out SW of the city and while there is no immediate threat, I sure do hope the rain stops soon. The water level at the Elbow River here has significantly risen in the past 5 days.

At least snow there doesn't cause thousands of dollars in damages to properties (besides cars I guess... but they are significantly cheaper than houses with belongings/memories)

It's raining, whatever, doesn't phase me much... but at this time of year with the melt from the mountains and all the rain mixed together, it's a recipe for disaster.

Personally, I could care less if it rains for 5 days straight... I'm not overly fond of it, but oh well.

The problem as Leah mentioned is that when you get runoff from the snow melting in the mountains, combined with heavy rainfall, bad things can happen.

On the plus side, our 1000L rain barrel is now completely full and ready for the garden...

I'm amazed that the houses at the bottom of my hill didn't get flooded from this.
