Pause/Wait/N

I tired looking online but I didn't find a whole ton. I was wondering what exactly is the pause/wait/n functions you can add to phone numbers for?

hold "1" to dial voicemail,
<pause>
after voice asks for password
"phone enters password"

just a pause between dialing the voicemail number, and entering the Password automatically for me. If you program the number without the pause, there is no time for the voicemail prompter to respond...

Could be used for some long distance services too, i.e dial the 1-800 number, pause, enter PIN, etc.

Pause allows you to enter a string and have the phone 'pause' for a pre-set amount of time before continuing on, great for automating phone menu systems on phone numbers you frequently use.

Wait allows you to force the phone to 'wait' for user input, such as manually entering a PIN number, but automatically entering other information using pause.


I use this for Impark Pay by Phone lots and the ParkPlus system.

Example:

Calling your boss at the office: Phone number [pause] extension
Checking your bank balance: Phone number [pause] Dial 1 [pause] account number [wait] manually enter PIN number [pause] Dial 1 to check balance
