    Default Help wiring a switch

I'm looking to replace an existing dimmer switch with one of these timer switches:

The dimmer switch is currently wired as in the attachment (horrible picture, sorry).

    Wiring diagram is here:

I wired black to the wire that goes into the black pigtail, red to the wire with orange tape, and white into the white bundle at the back of the switch box.

Didn't seem to work. Any ideas or hobbyist electricians want to help me out?

    TIA

I've yet to wire that one up, but turn the power on and with a meter or volt tick double check which black wire from your electrical box is carrying the power, the other wire is your switch lag, although with any switch I've ever seen it shouldn't matter. If it's backwords then it just means your "on" is "off" and vice versa.

Outside of that the wiring should be fine, just might not be programming it correctly.

Don't know the switch, but it might matter which one is constant because the timer requires constant power, if you've got the lead that comes from the panel wired to the 'output' of the timer/switch it may not work, try swapping them.

You need ground and power for that to work.

You likely have the wires reversed.

    Got it figured out...
Wiring was correct but my white neutral connection wasn't tight, redid the connections and it's working.

    Thx for the input

This is correct. I tried switching the panel lead and output and the display on the switch wouldn't come on.
