God of War on steam is on sale so I picked it up.
The game is visually, absolutely stunning, like I'm blown away. 3090 running it on ultra everything including DLSS on a 27" display (non-4k).
The story is also very engaging. I haven't been this instantly sucked into a game in a long time, like since Morrowind.

Settings -> Downloads -> Download region. You could try a different server then restart steam and see if that helps.

Got it! The wireless band was on 2.4ghz. I changed the preference in device manager to prefer 5ghz and now we are flying!

If you complain about download speeds, and you're on wireless, that's your problem. Unless you've disabled 2.4ghz, you're probably not on the band you want to be on.

This is true. A good point of troubleshooting slow speeds is to ensure you're on the correct band. I wonder how it would do with WiFi 6E. This new system of mine has it but I don't believe my modem/router combo from Telus supports wifi 6. So I'd have to get a new 6e capable router and plug it directly into the Telus modem. I can plug a Cat6 from the current modem into my macbook for a wired connection and get 750 up/750 down beautifully so I know Telus ain't screwing me.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. If anyone wants a good throwback game, Steam has Black Mesa on for 75% off. It's a remake of Half-Life 1. Supposed to be really good and improves the Zen part of the game. I loved the original but Zen sucked for me. I'm excited to see what they do with it. For less than $6 it's hard to go wrong.

For any Mortal Kombat fans there are deep (80-90%) Steam discounts on 10 and 11 right now (available side order of Injustice 2 too). I think it's to build hype for the MK1 reboot coming up.
