Default Anybody in the city with a Gorilla "master" key, or that can ID my key?

ok, so, long story short, i should have known better and i am an idiot for taking my truck to canadian tire... i thought they could handle a simple wheel changeover... i was wrong

they tightened my rear wheel nuts so tight i broke my key trying to remove the lock, i have a beast of an electric impact, and it would not loosen it, so i got my ratchet with a 4 foot snipe, i managed to get all the nuts loose with this method expect this one where my key broke...

so now i am fucked if i get a flat or anything... so i need someone that can get these locks off, or that can ID my key so i can order another key and try again...

i know there are ways to get them off without a key, but I'd rather not go that route, and i live in a condo, they wont appreciate me taking an angle grinder to the wheel nuts with cars on both sides... also i dont want to chance messing up the studs.

Like one of these things? I am not familiar with Gorilla, but is it the standard 'tuner' lug key?

    http://www.streetperformance.com/ART...s-21132HT.jpeg

If so, I have snapped one of those as well. I ended up buying a used one from a shop, but I also bought a new one (which was the one I broke) from autodream for $7.50

Edit: Or did you mean these guys (googling Gorilla keys brings up standard tuner lugs and these)?: http://www.yourhotcar.com/prod/Goril..._43006/639230/

    Wow...

I think you should just take it back to CT and have them replace all the wheel studs that they stretched along with all the lugs that they will have to use extractors on to get out.

stuff like that just does not fly man, if you use an impact to tighten lug nuts, then you don't belong anywhere near a car.

i agree, i should yell at them... and i would, but lucky for them, i just learned that the gorilla HQ is in LA, and i just happen to be going there in a couple weeks, so i am gonna bring the key and see if they can ID it for me and get me a replacement.

And honestly, i dont want them to touch my truck again.

i can guarantee if they didn't use a torque stick, i'd say these nuts are minimum 200ft/lb, before i got my snipe, i stood on my 6" ratchet and bounced and it would not budge, and i'm 230#, torque spec for the truck is 140ft/lb... and i really dont trust those sticks... much rather take the extra 10 seconds to use a torque wrench

Those torque sticks are not use and forget, I've seen plenty of broken bolts with the use of T-Sticks, most guns can easily over torque them.

Clearly though torque sticks were not used, if you had a snipe and 230 lbs of weight trying to get them off...

I hope the new key you get doesn't fare the same result

i hope so too, i am going to buy 2, but try only 1 (need the other for my other wheels, which i was able to loosen off and retorque before the key broke), if i break that, there will be some yelling going on at CT

If you don't want to wait then you can always goto Wheel Pros on Edmonton Trail. I was in the same situation a few years back and after driving to a dozen shops looking for a key I accidentally stumbled across Wheel Pros and they had tons of different keys in stock.
We stopped checking for monsters under our beds when we realized they were inside us.

thanks for the suggestion, the truck only gets driven like 1-2 times a month, so it's no big deal for me to wait, but i will try them out if gorlla can't help me without the key number.

Find a socket that will fit over the lug and hammer that fucker on to the lug, then snipe the bitch. Its how i had to do it a few years ago after i misplaced my key in a move.

i have actually busted 2 keys, of course, the same key (i have 6 sets of locks, luckily when i got the 6 set, i got 3 pair, so only 3 keys for 6 sets, i had them on every stud (i live in the ghetto) so i had 2 keys)

i have never broke a nut... I'd rather not damage the nuts as i intend to keep using them, i just want to loosen them so i can torque em properly so they will come off when i need them to.

the key actually just has hairline cracks around it, i might try putting on a hose clamp or something and see if that'll be enough to just break them free for now.

I just replaced my gorilla key through tirebob at urban expressions. He is such a nice guy. I would call him and see if he can match what you need.
