    Default Junkyards/Dismantlers in Calgary

Can someone recommend me some good dismantlers in the city, the only ones I know of are A1 Auto Body and Pick n Pull. Not a fan of PNP because they only tell you if they have the car in stock but unlike A1 dont tell you if they have the specific part you need. Also open to ones outside the city or in AB.

Forestlawn Autowreckers has some good stuff. You can call them up and ask for the part. I tihnk you'll have to pull it yourslef, but it may have changed.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

they do both, same price, just if you DIY you get it now instead of in a couple days when they get to it.

Oh cool, thanks for the clarification. Didn't know they do both, but it's been a while since i've needed anything from the wreckers.

I HIGHLY recommend Buck's Auto Parts although it's a very small yard, the guys are very low key, don't really care what you take and the prices cannot be beat.

The places that come up using car-parts.com including Forest Lawn Auto parts wanted $350 for a new Subaru bumper.

I paid $35 at Buck's and the guy there even helped me move the car to make it easier to get off.

There is an astronomical difference in this area in self-serve and full-serve price-wise.

Also another yard I had luck with was Asteroid Auto Wreckers, in the middle of f-ing nowhere but good honest guys, not sure if they would do self-serve probably not, but I paid $750 for a Volco transmission with 100K on it. Right into the back of my car, didn't even touch it.

the problem with DIY places is they generally have old crap... the "we pull it" parts, generally have newer vehicles with actually useful parts on them.

depending on the person you can negotiate prices too, i got $150 off and free delivery on a tranny from a "we pull it" place.

yea I used to love bucks until Navajo metals took over 3/4 of their lot, could always find odd hard to find parts there and they were extremely cheap.

Not too impressed with Forest Lawn Auto.

I went in there knowing dealer cost (relative works at dealer) and OEM replacement costs; Forest Lawn unbelievably quoted all the parts MORE than both of them.

I was also interested in one car they had on the lot, not for parts but for a section of the frame. I asked if they would sell it to me when they are done with the parts. He didn't look away from the computer and said "No, we just sell parts" and proceeded to look for the cost... I then tried to explain to him that he wouldn't find anything on the computer because the car is a unibody. The guy looked fucking floored.

I sure hope he felt like a retard, because that's the impression their whole operation gives off.

Like others have said http://www.car-part.com/ just ignore Forest Lawn

    Some yah.
It's very random and 75% smaller than it used to be.

But it's dirt cheap and they are normal cool guys working there.
