Didn't your papa teach you this?

What ever happened to being polite? I have been nothing but polite to officers and have NEVER received a ticket. 30k over on two occassions and the officer still let me off the hook with a warning.
OP, I (of course) agree with the rest of beyond. pay the tickets and learn your lesson.
THIS. quite a contrast to the guy in the lightrail train filming thread, who, along with his dad and brother, "like to fuck with tht police whenever possible, even if it takes some time, it's worth the lulz later."Originally posted by TheRealTimHorton

You are entirely correct Mibz.Originally posted by Mibz
That, kids, is how you avoid getting fucked three times for making one mistake.
I did something a couple of months ago I knew I should not have done. I was selling my WJ, and had to go out on a test drive with a potential buyer.
My wife had *just* bought her new car, and was previously driving my WJ. She had not yet switched the insurance over, so I suppose it actually was still insured and registered to her - but she had taken all the papers out of it, so I slapped the plate from my XJ that I had onto it (which I sold that same day) and went out for a test drive to try to sell the WJ.
The guy was driving the Jeep slowly on Stoney, and slowed down even more when we saw the only freakin cop on the road. As a result, he came up behind us and obviously ran my plate. Well, the plate was registered to the XJ so he pulled us over.
I told the guy to be courteous to the cop, and I was too. The cop ended up giving me a ticket for misuse of a plate. No points, but a $280 fine if I remember correctly.
This was actually a very light penalty, considering I had no proof of insurance, no registration, AND the plate was from the wrong vehicle.
Side note: The guy never even bought the truck, and stuck me with the $280 fine. I decided to keep driving it for now when the weather isn't condusive for the sports car.
I had an additional situation several years ago when two cruisers saw me speeding. They were caught in traffic, so I figured I would go down a side street to see if I could lose them. I didn't signal to the side street, and they saw this as well. Deciding that flying around corners in a residential neighborhood wasn't a good idea, I stopped on the side and waited for them to catch up. Took them a good 20-30 seconds.
They were a little pissed thinking I was trying to outrun them. They found pepper spray (the illegal kind) in my car, along with a knife. Could have got me for the non signal, the speeding, outrunning, expired registration, and god knows what else.
While waiting in the back of the cruiser I started chatting up the cop - while being polite and friendly.
He ended up giving me a no registration fine, and that's it. And even gave me back the pepper spray and knife. (The former of which they SO didn't have to do since it is restricted)
It pays not to be a douche. And to be white, of course.

Its pays off big time to just be calm and listen to the cops. A little late for you now OP, but use this as a lesson learned.
I got pulled over in Halifax at 2am coming back from the casino one time. 2 cruisers and a paddy wagon (8 cops in total). I was speeding but they didn't have a radar on it. But they apparently thought the car was stolen (alberta plates in nova scotia). I was very polite (rhd car and they came to the wrong side), explained to him about window not rolling down and that he should open my door to chat.
Instead of speeding, or unreasonable rate of speed, burnt out tail light, not changing my plates when living in a different province for too long, the list goes on. I got sent home with a police escort. That was it. Done deal, it pays to show RESPECT.
Again, it's not 'excessive speeding', it's driving at an unreasonable rate.Originally posted by SilverWind
Well, one ticket that bothers me the most would be the "excessive speeding" one how would i got at towards not receiving any demerits.... points?
If you want to avoid demerits, I would recommend going to the JP and saying you're willing to plead guilty to those other two tickets - no problem, you were guilty of those, but you just don't agree that you were driving at an unreasonable rate.
I think that there's a good chance that the JP would agree to that deal, and then you'd only be pleading guilty to non-demerit offences.
And in the future, don't be less than polite, be more than polite with the cops.

Hey, so 2am driving downtown.... i get pulled over. maybe could have been nicer to the cop but ended up getting 3 tickets handed to me, reason for being puled over? i ripped it at a light but saw the cop and never exceeded the speed limit.
i was wondering if i could get some help with the 3 tickets i was issued.
You got what you deserved.
Woah. That's a little harsh... even in jest.Originally posted by whiskas

Once you get pulled over, it's "damage control mode" basically stfu, be polite, and do as asked.
i got pulled over for some pretty ridiculous stuff once... be polite.. cops will do the same...90% of the time only though haha
ive been within that 10% and ive noticed how weird it is.. the times where cops are rude to me are the times they pull me over on NOTHING.. the times the cops are super nice to me are when they catch me in the act of something.. odd
You can technically get a ticket for each window that's illegally tinted. So as above, if you're being an ass to the officer (or if he's just an ass to begin with), he can give you two. (or three tickets if you're dumb enough to tint the windshield of your BMW... but if you own a BMW you can't be stupid right?)

Be happy he didnt tow your car. The Justice of Peace (JP) will reduce maybe even throw out a ticket but they will still give you demerit points maybe not as many as you deserve. When you're at your first appearance wear a suit and tie and don't argue because the way we all see it you have no case.
People sitting inside your vehicle are not considered witnesses.
I'd approach this in a different fashion. Which ticket were you pulled over for? If you can prove that this ticket was given invalidly, the other two would have to be thrown out by default because the cop had no reason to pull you over.
"Ripping" from the light is what caused him to get pulled over. From that they get the unreasonable rate of speed and the exhaust ticket. The insurance one is a little extra for being a douche. He will still have demerits, they will not remove them completely.

Well, I asked him was I getting pulled of for speeding,Originally posted by Mibz
Just to drive this point home, I was pulled over for speeding once and also had two insurance slips. The officer politely explained to me that having both was illegal and I needed to destroy the old one. He may have extended this courtesy because I wasn't acting hard as fuck. I thanked him for the information while tearing the slip in front of him.
When he came back with my speeding ticket he also noticed that the address on my driver's license wasn't current and that he had accidentally put my old one on the ticket. He explained to me that he could go back and rewrite the ticket or I could promise not to waste both our day's in court fighting it and just pay it. I told him I'd pay it. As he walked away I noticed that he had also dropped my speed well below what I was actually doing. I paid it the next day without making a thread on Beyond asking how to avoid taking responsibility for my actions

Cop says give me your licencse and registeration
Or I'm going to rip you out of the car, I wanted to see what ticket I was getting.
