Default If you pay taxes you should be outraged - Auditor General Report on G8/G20 spending

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/...al-report.html

The government didn’t tell Parliament it was approving $50 million for a G8 legacy fund that doled out cash for projects in cabinet minister Tony Clement's riding based on his advice, according to the auditor general, who could find no paper trail to explain how the projects were chosen.

The government decided to put funding for the G8 infrastructure projects under the existing Border Infrastructure Fund, but didn't inform Parliament of that decision. When MPs approved $83 million for the border congestion fund, they didn't know $50 million of it would be diverted to pay for 32 infrastructure projects in Huntsville and surrounding communities.
Harper and the old boys network are going to have a great time with their majority I can already tell.

    Fiscal conservatives -- uh huh.

Milhouse gets $50 million in pork for his riding, and now he's in charge of the Treasury Board! Fantastic choice for "belt tightening"! I guess the talent pool is mighty thin when your most prominent cabinet ministers from Ontario consists of the dregs of the Ontario PC party.

No shit. The Liberals have abused more money in this country than Harper will ever have a chance to do.

G8/G20 was a complete clusterfuck. Was a combined effort between the feds and the provincial libs, so it seems to me that one party isn't solely to blame for this. Would like to see the people in charge held accountable though (especially for the shady human rights abuses).

Anyone else hear that the fed liberals were complaining that the conservatives used half the estimated budget for it? I would have thought that using less money was a good thing... won't stop certain people from calling it a 'billion dollar lake' though.

Liberals, Conservatives.... they all side-step rules and regulations when its convenient to some extent.

    Nothing new here really.

Overall, I'd still vote for the Cons. The west has been ignored too long.

I couldn't give a shit about the protesters. It was giving the police secret powers and letting them abuse it is what I have a problem with. Dalton got in bed with the police force there as soon as he was elected, and really screwed with a bunch of lives pushing through legislation that the public didn't want or need. Was surprising to see that he took it as far as he did though.

I know you're trolling, but it's manila folder, not vanilla.

    Why not?

What's the drawback? Is it the robust economy? People having jobs? Money jingling in pockets? Political stability in Ottawa for the first time in years? Western representation?

I mean, let's face it. If you're going to be gay it may as well be for someone who will keep your family fed. The only possible drawback could be if you live in the national welfare pit. Oui-oui?

    It's all pointless now.

Public has a short attention span and next election is 4 years away. Bring it up when somebody give a shit.

Doesn't matter who you vote in, they are going to spend $ in someway that somebody doesn't like. It's already tough enough between husband and wife, let alone 30M+ taxpayers.
