All Alberta Datsun meet
Saturday, June 4th, 2011.

FREE

All old school Datsuns welcome and encouraged to attend: z cars, trucks, roadsters, 510s, bluebirds, bla, bla, bla... '84+ Nissans you can come too but the old school rides will be the draw.

If you have a Datsun (or did, or will, or are just interested in Datsuns) please make this a must attend event.

Please understand this is NOT a car show, so please don't think your car is not good enough...no excuses. My car has rust, a cracked dash, and torn seats and it will be there!

* If your car is full of bondo, fiberglass patches and painted with a roller; bring it.
* If your car is fully restored, bring it.
* If your car is somewhere in between; bring it.
* If your car isn't running, bring your daily driver.
* Heck, if you want to throw the shell on a flatdeck and haul it; bring it!

..no excuses.

I'm open to suggestions but here is my initial idea:

Southern Alberta folks meet in Calgary and cruise up to Red Deer together. The Northern Alberta folks meet in Edmonton and cruise together to Red Deer.

Once together in Red Deer we can do the parking lot chat thing, maybe buy / sell / trade some parts, share some knowledge, and then a cruise together around central Alberta and maybe take some photos.

I realize there are folks in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat and many north of Edmonton but keep in mind that the bulk of the population lives in the Edmonton - Calgary corridor so we'd have to appeal to the majority.

I'd like to hear from you to gauge your interest before putting more work into the event so tell me if you're into this.

Have you run this by the respective Z car clubs in Calgary & Edmonton? I don't think anything has been set for this year, but the last one I went to at Mills Nissan in Edmonton took place late in the summer/early fall.

Looks like somebody has already posted the information on the 780Tuners.com forum. The word is spreading and it looks like there are a number of people confirmed already. Should be a good time.

Here's and update less than 48 hours after getting this rolling.

Based on the Facebook event activity and the emails I have received off of the kijiji ads and forums, right now it is looking like a potential of about 40 cars / people attending...and counting.

I am probably the only one on these forums that communicate with the Calgary Z car club. I will pass on the info.

We did a participate last year at the quary park show. although it was a very small group.

My only concern is the number of Datsuns that get left on the highway lol.

Mine made it 5000kms last year on one trip alone. Long live Nissan durability

I've already passed word to the Calgary Z car club. Theres plenty of time. Plus we gotta get my 4SP back in lol.

Your car might make it 5000KM but there are some junker Datsuns here.

^ there is a S30 I know for sale. it was supposed to be the one I was supposed to buy. Its Orange and beautiful. Hefty price tag though

As a former owner of three 510's and one 280Z I would make a trip out to Red Deer for this. I will have to dig out my Datsun T shirt for old times sake. My Datsuns were 71, 72 and 73 510s and the Z was a 76 (a 2+2 auto) actually built in 75 and was number 000468. I sure miss those cars but not the tickets I got ripping around in them.

Cool news everyone. I was contacted yesterday by Greg Williams who writes for the Calgary Herald's Driving Section.

He will be doing a piece on our little get together. It will run in the Herald's Driving section Friday, March 18. Watch for it.
